Just a question. Say we wanted Darcy Daniher, so we offer to use pick 19, Essendon have to match that with their 2nd rounder to get him?

That's right wayne. The club with the F/S must use their next pick after the bid if they want him. Daniher is also eligible to go F/S to the Swans but the Dons are favourite.

this new rule like all other rules introduced are very frustrating and hard to understand. Why couldn't they just keep the old 3rd rounder 

You could maybe use it to your advantage.

Hypothetically, say last year we kept pick 8. We want Joel Selwood and he's available at 7 and Geelong are keen. We say we are using pick 8 on Tom Hawkins, Geelong have to use their first round pick to get Tom Hawkins thus letting Selwood slip to 8 and we grab him.

In that scenario, Geelong would have had to use their next pick after our bid of pick 8 to get Hawkins so they would still have got Selwood and Hawkins but Hawkins would have been picked up with their second pick instead of a 3rd rounder.

For us to get Selwood last year under the new F/S rule we would have needed a Club with a pick before Geelong's first pick to have made a bid for Hawkins. Given Hawkins was classed as a first pick last year if he wasn't a F/S, Carlton would have bidded for him and Geelong would have been forced to take Hawkins at pick 7 and we would have got Selwood at pick 8.

Not jealous but just believe they should get this charity. They are only crap now because they got caught blatantly cheating the salary cap and were punished. Why is the AFL now making up for the draft picks they deservedly lost for cheating!

Kreuzer, Murphy, Gibbs and Masten. They're going to have a strong starting centre bounce foursome in a few years time .

A Richmond supporter rang up SEN's VFL show and asked about Al Neville as far as a late draft pick. The presenter said Andy Collins rates Al Neville as high as he rated/rates Jake King.

No Priority Pick For Carlton:

1.   Richmond:    Kreuzer = Seems competitive, see him more as a power forward.                    Smashed by Naitanui (ruck duels) in Perth. Too small for a ruckmen? In racing parlance: the one to beat. When in Ruck = behind the play Ruckmen. Sorry to say = Brad Ottens at the carnival when he was in the ruck, especially in last 2 games.

2.   Melbourne:   Cotchin = Same as Deledio. Never played against men. Cocky. Can’t break a tag like Brett also. Steer clear. Too much work.


3.   Carlton:       Palmer = Josh Carr with more flamboyance. Was fed by McGinnity and Masten in Perth. Will have trouble with weight. No thanks.

4.   Adelaide:      Masten = A rich man’s Jimmy Bartel. Class. Great Engine. Great, great leader. If Carlton gain picks 1 & 4 Masten is Richmond’s man.

 
5.   Fremantle:      Rance = Tough. Darren Glass clone.

6.   Brisbane:      Morton = Overrated. Is soft. Birchall type. Too much work. How he won the medal is beyond me. Absolutely not.


7.   Essendon:      Kangars = Bombers to get him for spite (Marshmallows). Kidding. Athlete. Improving. Good closing speed. Bomber defenders getting old.

8.   W.B:      Henderson = Doggies need Key forwards.


9.   ST Kilda:      Pears = Would have liked Rance (Max is getting on) go for his mate. Reminds me of our Will Thursfield. 2nd Tall defender.

10.   Haw:      Grimes = Underrated. Like him. Old fashioned footballer. Utility type. Not for us though.


11.   Syd:      Myers / Hobbs = Myers is soft. Replacement for Kennelly. Hobbs is my smoky. Would love him at Richmond. Good pack mark and good hands. CHF.

12.   Port:      Ebert = Tradition continues. Like cousin. Both a little soft?


13.   WC:      Vespresmi = Overrated. Subi Special. = Nicoski.

14.   Kang:      Polkinghorne = Lenny Hayes. Kangas continue with clearance kings.


15.   Coll:      Maric = Cocky. Arrogant. Bad team-mate. Think Richo at his worst. Malthouse may think he can turn him around. He won’t. Needs whole forward fifty to survive. Will never have stamina required to reach midfield.

16.   Geelong:      Bellchambers = Clark Keating. Good tap ruckmen. Underrated. Better ‘tap’ ruckmen / and centre square ruckmen than Kreuzer. Ottens and King hate each others guts. Replacement.


17.   Rich:      McGinnity = Rich man’s Dean Polo / Brady Rawlings. Lock down man. Great kick. A ripper. Should be ours.
 
18.   Melb:      McEvoy = Overrated. Terrible carnival. Dees need Ruckmen.


19.   Rich:      Gourdis = Lance Franklin, not as quick. Has tricks. Physical specimen unlike Franklin. Get him as I think Hughes may fail. Hughes is far too timid for my liking. Underrated is Gourdis.
      
20.   Melb:      Aaron Joseph = tough onballer. Good clearance player. Reminds me of Lonergan from Ess, who will be a gun. Tasmanian mids are a good group coming through. Craig Cameron has got Tassies before (Green) Joseph would eat Green if he had too.

35 / 36      Ryan Hobbs = 194cm Only forward to beat W.A at championships. Not known by many. So keep it under your hat. = CHF: replacement for Hughes? Our Riewoldt I believe is a 3rd tall despite ability. Plays tall does Hobbs. Sydney are looking closely.

51 / 52      Silvestor = Mal Michael. Will be at Richmond. May have to get him with earlier pick (35 – 36) St Kilda are sniffing around. Re (Hudghton getting on)

67 / 68      Croft: 192 cms.  Plays on 3rd tall in Defence. Release Newman into Midfield.

Or Dean Putt. Ruckmen who nobody is talking about. 202cm holds his own against ‘better rucks’. Developmental type player. Will take 3 years.

83 / 84      Searl : 198 cm. Can’t have too many Key Defenders. (North Ballarat) I like him. Can play both ends.

2 Rookie picks: Mullins (Cob) = Jeff Farmer hopefully without the trouble. Good defensive skills. We need a crumbing – lock it in small in our forward half.

Gazzo (Coburg Tigers) = touch of class. Shaun Hart. I believe he can be a utility – lock down Hart like player. Better than a Rookie choice. Can kick goals also.

PSD: Meesan = We won’t get Charman. Thought about a trade earlier for Wood. Not worth it. Get Meesan for nothing in PSD + Graham+Putt+Simmonds+Pattison = Good ruck stops for a decade or more. Kreuzer is more your Power forward I believe. Good Back up ruckmen and potentially great KPP forward of centre is Kruezer.


Note: Richmond should do everything in their power to get another type 5 pick. Rance is as good as a lock down full-back I have seen since Darren Glass.

5 = Rance.

Keep an eye out for Michael Hurley (VM) & Chris Yarran (WA). Both going to be champions of the game. Picks 1 and 4 next year?

Don’t get spooked by Naitanui. Is only an athlete playing football. Will not make it. The 2 boys above are outstanding, outstanding footballers.

Michael Hurley: Bottom age. 192+ growing plug in and play anywhere up the spine.

Chris Yarran: = 16 yrs old.  More clever version of our own Peterson (who by the way is a player). Think Didak, Dale Thomas, Maric (draft this year), Ebert (Port) Akermanis, Brad Johnson, Daniel Motlop, Brett Deledio and Rhan Hooper all in one. Superstar. Plays tall.



The ideal set up of an AFL team now is this:

on Morton, I agree that he is an elite talent, however I hope he doesn't come to Punt Road. He isn't the player we need with our first pick. Similar player to Joel IMHO and won't provide any actual defensive work a la Joel, but will become one of the best attacking HBF

i would rather masten over cotchin from what i saw during the carnival,  but iirc , someone mentioned that cotchin played with a sever injury

lets just pray for 2 things,

1/ the demons make sure they lose in rnd 22

2/ the tigers make the right picks , this is the draft that will make or break us. pick smart and our list will solidify, pick badly and we will turn to rubble
