It's an interesting scenario. I know it's somewhat different but I wonder what the rules are on that considering the rules on blood doping?

What would happen if Rance needed surgery, considering he is a JW and all?

He would not be able to receive any blood or blood products if necessary due to large blood loss.

However he can donate blood to himself and have it kept in storage if he wants to.

JW's can eat or use the flesh from any animal however they cannot take the blood.

He'd have banked some of his own.
Doesn't work that way. Once it has left their body they can't have it back.
OER. Calling it as it is since 2004.

It does work that way. I give people blood transfusions frequently and I care for JW's relatively often and I've seen a handful actually need/refuse blood transfusions.

One of them also gave me a DVD to help me understand their stance on the matter.

Not quite correct. I have lectured on the subject and looked after many JWs in my life. Strict JWs do not accept blood that is their own once it has left their body. Their blood must be in a continuous circuit with their body.
Of course I have also come across many types of JWs who accept all sorts of things, but strictly speaking, I am correct.

so how do they draw that conclusion, because I'm pretty sure blood transfusions were not on the agenda when the old testament was written?
“For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
Nor are your ways my ways,” says the Lord.

“For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are my ways higher than your ways,
And my thoughts than your thoughts."

Great question. Leviticus 19:19 also states you cannot wear clothing woven of two different kinds of materials. So let's hope those socks are 100% cotton.

Even the gws fwd was shaking his head with a wry smile a couple of times when Rance beat him superbly. There was some good sportsmanship between those 2 all day
