Craig Cameron said today on the radio that Alex had been squeezed out of our defence with the players we have in there. We've moved him around a fair bit this year. Over the preseason we plan to find him a position and settle him in there.

Dont know why. he clearly isnt up to it

Don't agree Jack, I reckon he'd be at about the same development as an Andrew Mackie who turned into a All Australian defender.

There wasn't a real lot to fault about his game today.

2011 Richmond Player Countdown - 18 Alex Rance

http://fightingfury.tumblr.com/post/3667297648/2011-richmond-player-countdown-18-alex-rance

Young Alex Rance seemed to tread a bit of water in terms of development last season. He didn’t play terribly but it wasn’t great either and his sub-par performances saw him dropped to Coburg twice during the year. In Alex’s total of 10 games in 2010 we saw him play predominantly as a key backman, however his questionable decision making under pressure saw him moved up forward on occasions.

In 2011 we may see Rance played more in the midfield and up forward where he can use his bigger sized body and undeniable courage to hurt opposition players. The experiment seems to have worked so far this preseason with Alex finding much more of the football through the middle of the ground. With his last couple of seasons being a bit shaky Rance needs a good year to ensure his place on the list is safe for another year. Alex’s job won’t be easy though as there is plenty of competition for backline spots in the Richmond side. There is one thing you can’t question about Rance though, namely his unbelievable courage and heart; meaning he won’t die wondering what if!

A month ago my expectations were that it would be his last season on the list. He has actually started to look more comfortable and composed in the practice games though, so will I reserve my judgment for now. He has the body to be a valuable contributor, but does he have the brain?

Interesting one

See Dimma was happy with his game on Friday night especially the defensive side of things

Would be good if he could hold down a position down back becasue he can play on talls and as well as mobile players

12-18 games would be a good return IMV

my sentiments exactly. I've actually seen significantly less deer in headlights type stuff from young Rance this preseason. I'm expecting a big improvement year.
