Due to

1) at least one of pavs goals should have never been kicked. Yes rance lots it in the air but pav is v good. More so the fwd and mid should have never been allowed to be kicked to the contest with 2.5 secs left in the quarter.

2) everyone is worrying about there own man. Its selfish to not give rance a chop out. Look at johnson  comming 3rd up vs jack time after time.
he was well beaten end of story you can make all the excuses up you want.

6 goals one. should have been 7 but for a shocking bounce. 17 possesions on a miserable wet day.

should of been 5 but he got a lucky bounce, another one rance wasnt on him because of a turn over in the back half by newman. Make it 4 goals to pav. Your shocking bounce logic is useless

Astbury
why not both.  astbury may not even play back.

look the club had it right when they said last yr they would go after a big kpd. we didnt get one but the need is still there. as far as i know they made some strong enquiries about nm thompson for one.

Agree with "Granted we did miss grimes, but yesterday in those conditions we really missed foley..theres not much of nathan but hes strong in upper body and would have more than held his own against those bigger bodied dockers. In most games you find nathan at the bottom of a pack and yesterday was perfect for that type of player" Grimes would have provided good run as well

This came to me in a dream:

Yet another of pavs goals were hard to blame rance. The snapgoal that bounced in was woeful team defending. From the pack situation in the deep forward line.

When there are 30 odd blokes the spare rfx needs to be either on the goal line. Or in the action
Not in no mans land watch balls go over his head and bounce in.

Rance faces tough AFL test against Patton (SBS)

Rance faces tough AFL test against Patton
14 Jun 2012, 2:30 pm
Source: AAP/SBS

Richmond AFL coach Damien Hardwick says Greater Western Sydney will be a tough challenge for the Tigers.

What better way for Richmond's Alex Rance to regain some form than by taking on a debutant teenager in a team ranked 17th on the AFL ladder?

Rance has made a solid start to his fourth season at Tigerland, however the 22-year-old West Australian had a tough day last week as Fremantle's Matthew Pavlich bagged six goals.

On Saturday, Rance is expected to line up on Greater Western Sydney's 19-year-old Victorian recruit Jonathon Patton, who had knee surgery in January.

However, not only is Patton already a man-sized key forward at 197 centimetres and 102 kilograms, he's regarded as a future superstar after being taken at No.1 overall in the 2011 AFL draft.

Rance will be conceding Patton three centimetres and nine kilograms.

"He's a formidable looking lad. You only had to watch him at draft camp," Richmond coach Damien Hardwick said on Thursday.

"You'd never probably seen someone so ready to take the game to the AFL."

Hardwick was asked if Rance would try to intimidate young Patton in the same way Collingwood did with Melbourne's lightly-built debutant No.1 draft pick Jack Watts in 2009.

"'Rancey' will niggle, maybe, but he (Patton) is a player who's certainly looking to make his way in the AFL and we'll treat him accordingly," Hardwick said.

The 11th-placed Tigers (5-6) will be desperate to regain some winning momentum to help them stay in touch with the top eight ahead of next week's bye.

Hardwick says Rance's confidence remains intact.

"Alex didn't play to the level he likes to on a weekly basis," Hardwick said of last week's 12-point loss to the Dockers.

"Pavlich kicked a number of goals over the back where we turned over the ball and Alex got caught out of position.

"He's a confidence player, Alex, and he doesn't lack any of that. He'll get back on the horse this week and I've no doubt he'll have a good game."

The Tigers are expecting Patton to play despite limping off the training track on Wednesday.

"We heard he got a knock on his knee," Hardwick said.

"I saw 'Sheeds' (coach Kevin Sheedy) last night at the Hall of Fame, giving nothing away.

"We think he'll play.

"They've got some formidable targets up there. Jeremy Cameron's playing well."

What I often find around forums is that when a young player leaps up and performs at very high standard people raise their expectations to that level. Then when, as is typical with any young player, that standard drops for a period of time, posters flock in to start to claim that they are 'over-rated', 'average' or 'ordinary'.

The memory spans of some is incredibly small, either that or they just like to take an opportunity they can to put down our better players.

Patience and perspective

Juddy has a theory that the average memory span for the media and joe punter during the season is two weeks.

Case in point Malthouse rating norf's season a B. Three weeks ago they were beaten by over 100 points.

Four weeks ago Tross towelled up the best forward in the comp.

The first 10 or so rounds Rance was on song (people talking AA) but since then he's been well beaten by his direct forward .... Pav, Cameron and now Walker today. Is he carrying some niggle or something (?) as he's terribly lost form. He's losing contact with his opponent all to readily and is just being too slow to react and is being caught out of position which sees him lose his feet at times.

disagree rance has never been on aa track.  the same things that have him in the gun this week  and the last 4 weeks have always been there, and have raised their ugly head most weeks.maybe not as often as this week but most weeks hes been poo in one area or another.

people imo have become stats gurus and stats lie. 25  possesion games doesnt necesarily mean a good game.

anyway i dont not rate him i just dont think he should play fb imo we dont have a premiership fb yet.

if there was just one player on the list who was capable of holding down fb other than rance  i would be screaming for him to be played.  the truth of the matter is we dont have another option for his job. but we sure as hell need to find one.
