Characterless footy club with no support and no hope. Stuff them. Now to make them pay on the footy field as of this year to show them how pathetic they really are and to get them to cut that bs charade of Shinboner Spirit and crap and leave them wallowing in the mire where a footy club like North belong.

Its good to see us keeping up with the pies ... in past years they have been well ahead of us. Hopefully we get a good run in the NAB Cup ... that will add to membership, and hopefully a big build up to the Carlton game R1 - and hopefully a win. 40,000 members here we come.

Only once or twice in HISTORY have we gone top 4 and not been top 2 in home attendances and this includes the Punt road years.

In 2007 we the THE highest drawing spoon team in history. Drawing well over 40,000 per game. By comparison Hawthorn, in 15th in 2004 drew 25,000. Go figure.

Carlton V Essendon despite all their 1990s blockbusters have fewer 70,000 plus H and A attendances than Richmond V Essendon.

All the historical evidence indicates that if the tigers took off and went top 4 we would be huge. Simply huge. Last year on the back of a spoon we sold 39,000 memberships adn drew almost 1,000,000. A top 4 Richmond would see queues at the "G"

Just as with everybody Ramps. Mass tens of thousands membership is a recent phenomenon.

The Pies sold about 27,000 on the back of a spoon less than a decade ago. That figure would be laughed at now. membership inflation is very recent. Relative to inclmes they have never been cheaper or more prevalent.

Attendances are a far more accurate measure of support. Hawthorn drew 11,000 in Melbourne against port in 2004. Where were all the members? Not interested in a team in 15th is the answer. In the same season, in 16th we drew 18,000 v freo. Far fewer of our members missing.

hello "One Eyed Richmond" people!

just like to quickly say, hope everyone had a good christmas and new years eve and day and all the best for 2009. (my first post in 2009) 

BUT ...

today i renewed my Richmond membership and my friend who used to be a Richmond member (but still a supporter) bought his membership for the first time since 2001, thanks to Ben Cousins. 

i told him that the last time he had a Richmond membership we made the finals (which he knew) and he could be the positive omen after all these years. (LMAO)

interesting to see today's membership numbers.

West Coast - over 47,700 members is amazing considering West Coast finished 15th. Yes, there is two teams in Western Australia, but just shows that Australian Football "dominates" Western Australia and West Coast have a proud history 22 years on. 

Hawthorn - Hawthorn want 40,000 members and look "ok" in getting that. No surprise for the Champions supporters getting on board. 

Essendon - Pretty good numbers. Average start in the first half of '08 but looked dangerous second half of '08 and seems like supporters believe in former Richmond Champion Matthew Knights's game plan. 

Collingwood - Steady. 

Geelong - Steady. 
 
Richmond - I just hope we get more members then St Kilda, North Melbourne and Western. Wishing to get more members then Geelong by the end of year (doubt that)  All teams are finals teams. Hopefully Richmond "smash" last years record and edge close to 35,000, hopefully more.

St Kilda - Going well considering that they are the "pretenders" of the AFL. 

Melbourne - Very good. Looks like Melbourne supporters believe Jim and Dean's vision which is good to see.

Western - I believe Western supporters are "bandwagon supporters". One bad year and there numbers will fall. Surprising their numbers aren't higher. 

Carlton - Going good. Big year in '09 with high expectations and you would think they could sneak in the eight if all their "Stars" have a great year. 

Brisbane - As a Australian Football supporter, you would hope Brisbane's membership grows. Since Gold Coast is coming in two years time, i personally hope Brisbane gets more supporters and members for many reasons and one being speading/growing the AFL rather then Rubgy League in Queensland. Hope Michael Voss is the answer but a hard task. 

Port Adelaide - I think disappointing. Do the Port Adelaide supporters hate Mark now? Having family in Adeliade (Adelaide supporters and one Port Adelaide supporter) they think Port Adelaide have had enough of Mark now. Didn't Port Adelaide have over 35,000 members in '08? Hard to see 22,000 members by the deadline, but maybe i am totally wrong and members will grow as the Football season starts. 

North Melbourne - They are seriously on the edge of extinction. Very bad really. I believe if North Melbourne has two years in a row finishing bottom four, they will fold. I admire North Melbourne's players and Dean for playing with nothing and having nothing. Why don't North Melbourne supporters sign up? North Melbourne now has all "Home" matches in Melbourne. You would of thought they would at least reach 30,000 again.

Eagles and Crows get large membership numbers because you need to be member to get into the ground. Subi holds only 45k or thereabouts and Footy Park around 50k.

Port is a combination of having issues with the SANFL controlled Footy Park when most SANFL members are Crows fans and Port supporters so use to being the big fish in a small pond struggling to cope now they are in the big ocean. Not so easy to win flags now in the big league with the restrictions of the salary cap and draft when rebuilding. Some are also very ticked off with the AFL siding with Collingwood over their B&W jumper and them being forced to wear all teal against the Pies .

Traditionally Richmond gets a late surge closer to the start of the season so it'd be interesting to know how many of those signed-up so far are new or returning members like your mate torch. If the 30% increase holds up until then then we'll be on track for 39-40k ticketed members. That would mean almost 50k all up  . That may be a bit optimistic. If it's a 4000 increase then that would give us 35k ticketed and roughly 43k combined. Still would be a stunning increase in the current economic climate when all clubs would be budgeting for zero growth across all revenue streams.

A mate of mine swapped jobs, they were stumped for ideas for a farewell gift. I suggested a Richmond membership (he does barrack for Richmond) and we got him signed up.

I now just have to talk my brother and dad into it, and renew me and my little girl (she'll be a 2nd year member before she's even 1 year old!).

RICHMOND has tapped into an unlikely new support base in the West as Ben Cousins' arrival continues to drive membership sales.

The Tigers have been flooded with membership inquiries from West Australians eager to follow Cousins' return to the AFL.

Richmond has so far signed up more than 18,000 members, 4000 more than the same time last year. The club is confident of breaking its 2008 record of 30,800 members.

"We've had a lot of West Australians ringing up and wanting Richmond to be their second AFL team and buying memberships," Tigers assistant coach Brian Royal said yesterday.

Royal said the Brownlow medallist had had an instant impact on the club.

"He's been fantastic in the way he's mixed in, particularly with our younger guys," Royal said.
