would surely consider him with a 4th rounder, got nothing to lose really, after the 3rd round (or even 2nd round) the draft is a bit of a lottery

im certain we wouldnt snare a 22yo with a r4 selection, mayve a R3 , I fear they would ask a R2. I would think perhaps Polo is being hawked around
No chance, he's out of contract and can't make the side of a bottom 4 side. 4th rounder at best.

Hughes for Thomson and an exchange of 2nd round draft picks would be nice.  :thumbsup

Sorry Darth, I have to disagree on this one. IMO the only other person who would think that's nice is Mark Williams lol. The swapping of picks 22 and 26 isn't much of a muchness as you'll get a similarly decent kid at both picks and Port gets a 21 y.o. KPP in exchange for offloading a 22 y.o. dime a dozen small mid on the fringe whose a dodgy kick. Read on the AFL site how important Williams rates kicking these days. That's why Thomson is on the outer and is no loss to Port.

To me that trade reads us offloading Hughes when we lack KPPs just to move 4 spots up the draft in the 20s. No deal sorry.

agree with you completely there MT.  hughes is important for us and worth much more than thomson.  we're not desperate for thomson, be nice to have for a low pick (4th rounder or something) but nothing more.  Dun understand the logic of some posters wanting to trade off hughes when KPP is a need of ours

Hughes is what we need for this side. We should put all our time and effort in trying to develop him.

Port want a third round pick for Thomson (Herald-Sun)

Thomson trade close
Herald-Sun | October 7, 2008

PORT Adelaide wants Richmond and North Melbourne to put offers of a third-round draft pick for midfielder Adam Thomson in writing by noon today.

And the door is open for two other Victorian-based clubs -- presumably Melbourne and Essendon, which have third-round draft picks ahead of the Tigers and Kangaroos -- to trump the frontrunners for the 22-year-old.

"It's OK, it is what the market says," Port football operations manager Peter Rohde said of the offers for Thomson.

Why would anyone put up a 3rd round pick for someone who is likely to be delisted anyway  ::).

Cameron hopeful to get Thomson for pick 42 (Sportal)
« Reply #44 on: October 07, 2008, 09:09:46 PM »
A snippet from Sportal

Paul Gough

Cameron was more confident of coming up with a trade deal to secure Port youngster Adam Thomson, who has struggled to get a regular game with the Power having played just 28 games over the past four years.

Cameron said the deal was not yet finalised but was hopeful the Tigers could secure the 22-year-old for their third round selection - pick 42 overall.
