Interesting odds for us given our past history in the NAB Cup, cant remember last time we got past round 1

Must be the Cuz factor (even though he probably wont play against Freo)

Last time we won a pre season game was in 2004 when we beat the Dogs.
Lost to the Saints in the last 8.
We have not won a pre season cup game in TW tenure.
Friday, 20 February 2004, 7:40 PM @ Telstra Dome. Crowd 22,537.

BULLDOGS:  0.1.1,   0.4.5,   0.9.8,     0.12.9 (81).
RICHMOND: 1.4.3,   2.6.4,   2.8.5,     2.13.9 (105).

NINE POINT GOALS: Pettifer, Fiora.
SIX POINT GOALS: Zantuck 3, Rodan 2, Morrison 2, Brown, Stafford, Ottens, A Kellaway, Schulz, Tivendale.
BEST: Tivendale, A Kellaway, Coughlan, Brown, Ottens, Fiora, Morrison, Newman.

Only 8 survivors from that game.

Richmond: Brad Ottens, Mark Chaffey, Nathan Brown, Kayne Pettifer, Greg Stafford, Justin Blumfield, Aaron Fiora, Ben Marsh, Shane Morrison, David Rodan, Tim Fleming, Ray Hall, Shane Tuck, Thomas Roach, Mark Coughlan, Jay Schulz, Bill Nichols, Kane Johnson, Luke Weller, Chris Hyde, Greg Tivendale, Simon Fletcher, Chris Newman, Ty Zantuck, Andrew Kellaway, Kelvin Moore, Marc Dragicevic, Adam Houlihan.

St Kilda pumped us the following round  :P.

Trial NAB Cup rules may go into new season (Age)
« Reply #31 on: February 04, 2009, 01:33:02 AM »
Adrian Anderson's proposed rule changes that will be trialed in the NAB Cup...

THE RULE CHANGES FOR POTENTIAL INTRODUCTION IN 2009 PREMIERSHIP SEASON

* A free kick will be awarded for any deliberate rushed behind.

* Umpires to award a 50-metre penalty in addition to a free kick for players who tackle or hold an opponent after the opponent has disposed of the football, for the purpose of preventing them from taking part in the next act of play.

* Continuation of the trial of the no-go zone behind umpires at centre bounces.

SOLELY ON TRIAL FOR NAB CUP

* Clubs will be allowed eight players on the bench, but two of those will be nominated as designated substitutes, with the players they replace unable to return to the field.

I like this rule.  This is one of Terry's ideas.  In today's game a bench of 3 vs a bench of 4 because of injury is a huge disadvantage.  This will even out the game a lot better.

Fremantle tagger Ryan Crowley to continue rough game on Coughlan (Perth now)

Fremantle tagger Ryan Crowley to continue rough game
Kim Hagdorn | February 07, 2009 05:30pm

RUGGED Fremantle tagger Ryan Crowley knows he isn't popular. But he still doesn't plan to roll out a "welcome home" mat for Richmond's Mark Coughlan.

Coughlan, 26, is tipped to resurrect his stalled career as his Tigers confront Crowley and the Dockers in a highly anticipated NAB Cup clash.

Crowley is a candidate to take on the former Perth player, who has had two full knee reconstructions and a horror run of hamstring strains in his comeback attempts.

But the no-nonsense Docker won't be in a compassionate mood should he be asked to run with Coughlan.

"It's 'you versus them' once you're out there, so I'm not going to take it easy on him (Coughlan) just because it will be his first game back for quite a while," Crowley said.

Crowley flagged prospects of at least four Dockers making NAB Series debuts.

He had high praise for draftees Stephen Hill and Nick Suban, as well as rookies Greg Broughton and Matt De Boer, after making solid impressions in summer training.

You would've thought after their thug tactics only got Freo to the hefty heights of 14th last year they might consider targetting the ball in 2009. Oh well one less side to worry about  :sleep.

No Hislop WAT?

No Richo either  ;)

Given Bowden the flick altogether or don't you think he'll play until later on in the preseason?

I think Sugar will miss given he's in the rehab group with a slight injury to his knee.

Cleve's going to have to step at FF after the intraclub that's for sure.

I really think Cog's will line up MT, you have said all along that you don't think he will, do you know something we don't??

I've got Cogs as a sub. I just think watching him he isn't quite ready for a full game straight off the bat yet. There's plenty of time to build up his gametime so he's right and ready for round 1.
