Patto's not making the trip

Tezza said at Club80 last night that Brown (Nathan G) is playing on Sunday

Don't think he'll be elevated as from the way Terry (or was it Wayne or Jade?) spoke last night Polly may be playing Coburg ressies sooner rather than later.

It was Tezza  :thumbsup

He said that is the reason the Tiges tried to get Polak put on the rookie list as opposed to the LT injury list.

If Polak is able to play just 1 quarter of ressies footy at Coburg then he would because it will aid his recovery and on the rookie list he would be able to do that on the LT injury list he wouldn't be able to play for 8 weeks. Tezza went onto to say that is a major thing they are considering at the moment do they or don't they (put him on the LT list)

Wonder if Nahas plays a blinder it may force the clubs hand regarding Polak.

Is the game being televised or is it on Foxtel?

David Mundy (c), Paul Haselby, Michael Johnson, Luke McPharlin, Ryan Murphy and Chris Tarrant (despite a tight hammy) are playing for Freo this Sunday. No Pavlich or Headcase Headland.

I reckon I know my footy pretty well and there are 12 players on Freo' list that I have never heard of or have yet to see play senior football.
That's quite a chunk of that squad, compared to us I think if we dont win there will be questions asked ??
In saying that I believe we will account for them comfortably. To put a number on it I would say 48 points with Deledio, Foley, Nahas, Morton & Graham best players.

Subiaco holds no fear for Tigers
Justin Chadwick | February 14, 2009 - 2:04PM

Richmond will be aiming to win their third game on the trot at Subiaco Oval when they open their AFL pre-season campaign against the Dockers in Perth on Sunday.

The Tigers, possessing a host of fleet-footed midfielders, destroyed the Dockers to the tune of 64 points at the venue in round four last year before returning in round 15 to hand the Eagles a 77-point spanking.

"It wasn't too bad last year, we were lucky enough to come away with two wins," Tigers captain Nathan Foley said.

Richmond have named a strong line-up for Sunday's match against the Dockers.

Although former Eagle Ben Cousins, Mark Coughlan and Kane Johnson won't take to the field, Richmond have included the likes of Matthew Richardson, Nathan Brown, Brett Deledio, Richard Tambling and Troy Simmonds in a near full strength squad.

Former Bomber Tom Hislop and former Power midfielder Adam Thomson will debut for the Tigers if they make the final cut.

Fremantle, minus skipper Matthew Pavlich and Chris Tarrant, have named a host of youngsters, led by last year's No.3 pick in the national draft, Stephen Hill.

Paul Hasleby has been included for his first game since rupturing the anterior cruciate ligament in his knee in last year's pre-season competition.

Foley said the team would treat the pre-season competition seriously - without going overboard.

"I think it's the aim to go out and win every game we are presented with," Foley said.

"We are lucky to have a squad that's up and running at the moment so it gives us the luxury of having a large list to pick from.

"We finished really strongly last year, particularly in the second half (of the season).

"We've had a good, solid pre-season and been lucky to have the majority of the group complete a fair bit of the pre-season so taking that in to 2009 will be exciting.

"it's always hard to compare from pre-season to pre-season.

"But blokes who are getting their third and fourth consecutive pre-season in - it's invaluable and come the season proper the blokes who have done that will reap the rewards."

Wallace turns to Cuz for inside word
Justin Chadwick | February 14, 2009 - 5:14PM

Ben Cousins won't take the field against the Dockers on Sunday but Tigers coach Terry Wallace will pick the brain of the former West Coast star as Richmond look to consolidate their recent good AFL form at Subiaco Oval.

Richmond, possessing a host of fleet-footed midfielders, destroyed the Dockers to the tune of 64 points at Subiaco Oval in round four last year before returning in round 15 to hand the Eagles a 77-point spanking.

Wallace felt there were still lessons to be learnt about how to play at the long and narrow venue and said Cousins, who played 110 times at the ground during his glittering 12-year career at West Coast, would provide valuable input.

"Obviously he wants to be involved as much as what he possibly can," Wallace said after training on Saturday.

"I thought there was a couple of things (he could add), all to do with the playing style here and what works and what doesn't.

"We've got a team meeting tonight and he'll probably have some involvement in that."

Richmond have named a strong line-up against the Dockers, with only Cousins, Mark Coughlan, Trent Cotchin and Kane Johnson the notable absentees.

Fremantle, minus skipper Matthew Pavlich and Chris Tarrant, have named a host of youngsters, led by last year's No.3 pick in the national draft, Stephen Hill.

Paul Hasleby has been included for his first game since rupturing the anterior cruciate ligament in his knee in last year's pre-season competition, while David Mundy will captain the side in Pavlich's absence.

Wallace said he would use the hit-out to assess the form of some of his fringe players.

"I reckon we've got five guys who I need to see who virtually have hardly played, or not played at all," Wallace said.

"That's why you love coming to these games, to see whether someone can step up.

"Is there one of your boys who can make a difference?

"One that comes to mind is Angus Graham.

"We've struggled for an extra ruckman, we know Freo have got reasonably strong, good ruckmen and Angus played at the end of 2007 and then did an ankle, so we virtually lost him for 12 months.

"So to see how he's come back with another summer under his belt - as a coach that's the sort of stuff you are looking to see, whether he can add anything to the squad for the year."

Today's the day  :thumbsup

How are we all feeling about the first game of the year (even though it's only a preseason one) now it's only a few hours away?

Totally Excited?

Quitely optimistic?

Nervous about going in as favourites?
