Julz just ain't in my league MT - who made her president anyway lol.
i was at the footy once, and saw what i thought was Ash sitting in the stands when he was supposed to be playing.
So i asked him why wasn't he playing - and it wasn't him - was his twin brother lol

It's been reported that Ashley Prescott was approached to see if he was interested in an AFL assistant coach's job (not sure if that means us) but turned it down for the meantime to stay at Claremont in the WAFL.

I think it was us MT - Scot Palmer said in his "Punchlines" in today's (24/10/04) Sunday Herald Sun the following (refer page 42)

"Richmond Coach Terry Wallace has yet to decided the final memeber of his coaching team with former Tiger-Docker Ashley Prescott still in the mix. Prescott coached Claremont in the WAFL last year. Retired Roo David King is another on Wallace's books"

David King would fit the criteria of a recently retired player from a successful club but as we saw with Crocker that's no guarantee. Not sure if he wants to coach but Shaun Hart was another one I was thinking of.

In an ideal world a captain from a successful club would be the best bet.

Geez go away for the weekend and everyone takes your name in vain!

As for Ashley Prescott - nice body but he has a head like a robber's dog!

Ok, here’s my attempt at a training report.  Only saw a few minutes, so it’s not much to go on.

Anyway, from what I saw, Johnson, Hall, Hilton and Archibald ran laps.

Hartigan and one other, who I couldn’t place, did sprints.

The main training group was split up into two groups.

The smaller group of ten did competitive type drills with Brian Royal and David King. McKee was in this group (seemed to me like he felt a bit out of place or something, but did ok), along with Campbell, Brown, Newman, Tivendale, Hyde and Schulz, that I can remember.

The main group did skills work, split into two teams (shirts vs no shirts), with all players running towards goal.  A player scored by handballing through a hoop.

I believe Mark Graham was there as well, but didn’t pick him out.

There were some others who I either couldn't spot or just weren't there.  Notably, no Cogs.

Dangerous moments: a low flying pigeon near decapitated a couple of onlookers.  Both were unshaken and unharmed by the near incident, including the pigeon. :thumbsup

And dare we ask which team you were supporting TS :rollin

We would hope he's working at getting is groin injury right Ox.

But we are talking about Tezza and his team here - so you've got to feel more confident that they know what they are doing  :thumbsup

I like this drill and I can see where Terry is coming from as it seems that at most training sessions he is implementing this drill where they score by handpassing through a hoop.  I beleive he is trying to drill into his players a running, attacking and supportive style of play whereby they are running forward in numbers and sharing the pill by hand.  IMO he is trying to get them out of the bad habit of being too static and relying too much on a kick to a mark situation in order to gain and hold possession.

I wouldabeen barracking for the Tiges at all times WP. :cheers

As it’s very early on in the pre season, it’s a bit hard to read anything into who is and who isn’t there and who is doing what sessions.

I agree with your points HarryH and it does seem that way.  Even though it’s very early days yet and the results will come somewhere down the track, the players seemed a lot more on their toes.  As you’d expect with new coaching staff on board.  But I think it also had to do with the drills they are doing, because you would need to be alert at all times and this seemed to creat a lot more urgency in their training.

The competitive side of things is being brought into it as well, as scores were being called out, after each point.

TW was on SEN this morning.  Someone rang in and asked about Cogs.  He said that he was surprised at his fitness and that he’s in really good shape.  He still has the ongoing groin problem, so they will be taking it very slowly with him.  Nothing was mentioned as to the type of sessions he’s doing.
