Exactly.
Last year they had a designated area for members and we didn't have to pay extra, should be the same this year you'd hope

This reeks of unprofessionalism ;D
-
Selfishly....Im happy for it to have its own thread as I don't need people coming to me on Sunday saying "I didnt see it anywhere!" which will probably happen.
-
will probably still happen :lol
-
So what do we members with 16 game memberships get?
We already have GA access so there really isn't any real benefit in this "replacement" game :-\
-
HTFU is what you do, WP. :thumbsup
-

Sorry Coach normally I'd say yeah you're probably right but not the week for it, can't right now been a shocking couple of days

I have upgraded and purchased a seat so I can sit where I want
I know it's ain't right but that's the RFC for you
By the way.they rang me yesterday looking for donations but explained I just spent money at Tickettek to upgrade what was rightfully mine anyway
-
Spud Supporters of the RFC are to meet at the nearest river(bring a rope and large brick).
Emails will be sent Friday.
Meet up at the Ponsford End Saturday during the game.
Thank you (Richmond member replacement program).
-
Yo RFCO, what are the chances of getting straight with supporters re: Foley's injury?
Your silence is deafening.
-
You really want to know? Get in touch with RonnieB (if you can find him). He knows everything Foley. It is rumoured that Ron told everyone that Nathan is finished. Sad but if Ron said that...

Preview: Melbourne v Richmond
By Peter Ryan and Paul Daffey
03/07/2012
WHERE AND WHEN: MCG, Saturday July 7, 2.15pm
LAST TIME: Richmond 20.13 (133) d Melbourne 11.8 (74), round three, 2011, at the MCG
A must-win for the Tigers after two disappointing losses in the past three games that have kept them among the pack chasing a spot in the lower reaches of the eight. Although the Demons are more organised now than when the teams met earlier in the season, shocking luck with injury has made them vulnerable. Promising young defender Tom McDonald is the latest casualty, coming on top of the season-ending injury to forward Mitch Clark. The Tigers midfield should be too good again, able to catch the Demons on the spread and generate opportunities up forward for Jack Riewoldt.
THE FOUR POINTS
MELBOURNE
1. Although Melbourne recorded more inside 50s than the Lions last week it was found wanting up forward without Clark. While Jared Rivers and Colin Garland battled hard, the Demons had to scramble for goals and were punished after turnovers. Melbourne is functioning as a unit much better now, but they are undermanned.
2. James Frawley and Riewoldt always have intriguing battles. Frawley remains the Demons' most reliable defender, particularly with Rivers forward. To subdue Riewoldt however he will be reliant on the midfield applying pressure, an area in which Melbourne has improved in the past month. In the absence of McDonald, Rivers might have to return to defence.
3. How can Melbourne manufacture goals without Clark as a marking forward? It managed to kick three of its eight goals from marks inside 50 last round, and while many entries were rushed and its makeshift forwards battled hard, it could not crumb goals. It will need to bring the same intensity of effort it brought to the first quarter last week and hope it can convert the entries into scoreboard pressure to stay in the game.
4. Beaten on the spread last week, the Demons might try to lock down Trent Cotchin with Jack Trengove and send Jordie McKenzie to Brett Deledio. If Cotchin goes forward, Daniel Nicholson can sit on him and rotate Trengove through the back half as a spare. It sounds defensive but the Dees were blown away in eight minutes of football in round three. They can't let that happen again.
RICHMOND
1. Richmond's loss against Adelaide marked yet another defeat after the Tigers had been in a winning position. It's happened against almost every strong team this season, although not, as in this case, when they'd kicked eight goals in the opening quarter and led by 33 points at the first break. The Tigers need to be better at closing teams down. If they're to challenge for the eight, it should start this week.
2. Dustin Martin receives a lot of attention for being a young bull, but this season he's been an inconsistent one. For most of the season he's been more intent on doing an exaggerated wind-up and trying to kick as long as possible rather than trying to pick out a teammate. On Saturday he returned to form, getting 23 disposals and kicking three goals. The Tigers will be hoping he remains on track this week and thereafter.
3. Jack Watts has become a key since becoming a half-back sweeper. It'll be interesting to see whether the Tigers assign a defensive half-forward to try to curb his influence. Shaun Grigg might be a candidate. More likely, they'll play three tall forwards to try to stretch the Demons. Tyrone Vickery, Todd Elton, Jayden Post or Brett O'Hanlon could all play as a third tall forward behind Riewoldt and Brad Miller.
4. Richmond was in front against Adelaide when it won the contested ball. Adelaide wrested the authority back over the last three quarters by winning the contested ball. Inside work is not the Tigers' strength; they're better on the outside, where they can use their handball to hare through the middle and their precise kicking skills to pick out a teammate. For all Melbourne's woes this season, it's been reasonable at winning the contested ball. The Tigers will do well to knuckle down in the packs if they want to stay in the hunt for a final-eight spot.
AFL.com.au prediction: Richmond by 32 points

Promises, Excuses
Had enough of your annual spruces
100 a year
stuffing my ears
I want a win
tackles and shepherds and one percenters
I want them now
Pass me the ball
Give me the ball
Long kicks and short ones loopy old handballs
I want them now
Don't care how
I want the cup
So I can sit there and strut
It is my birthright
Is that allright
Give it to me now
I don't care how
Development youth and giving them games
That's just a shame
Garbage excuses and pathetic uses
No more recycled and hack player losers
I want the cup don't care how
Give it to me now
Give me the flag
Don't wait and lag
Victories aplenty and a premiership medallion
Maybe I should shut up and start following Essendon.
I don't care how
Give me the flag now
Cue Willy Wonka playing a flute
and a couple of oompa loompas. :thumbsup

that will create some funny moments, im sure.

Since the drama earlier in the week, Melbourne has come from $5.85 into $4.60. We're now $1.20.
At least the weather forecast is for a fine sunny day and 14 degrees. Hopefully that opens the outside game up and allows us to play some free flowing attacking footy and put it on the scoreboard.
-
Really hope so, will take great pleasure from smashing the dees

Ok, so for the laments, the Crows are top 4 the Dees are bottom 4 and so are the Giants, beat the Crows there's the improvement, we blew it big time, beat a team of 12 year olds and a team that is genuine bottom 4 and....really, does that make us a really good side.....do you get it now?????

We won't ae the 8 so yep, would rather lose now and finish as lo as possible for the pcs, that way we may, may, have some chance of asking the 8 in the next 20 years.

NO EXCUSES!
JUST WIN TIGES! :gotigers

I have had a gutfull of listening to people seize on a bit of discomfort and misfortune by the club and hoping that we finish low down on the ladder so we can secure a high draft pick.how about the club taking the bit between the teeth and showing some internal fortitude and fight to secure that finals berth we all so desperatley want.......just like Carlton did last night
-
Robbo is going for Melbourne now. Thinks today will be where we drop our finals aspirations.
The media are hoping we'll fail :sleep
-
Adam Maric is the sub today.
White, Morris and O'Hanlon on the bench.
Moloney is Melbourne's sub.

How long have you had a gutful of the club dishing up poo like last week for and taking the easy wins for granted???
Agree with you on the integral fortitude comments though and thats all I am asking for week after week!

Ellis is a bloody turtle. Playing alright though

once again wasting opportunities

once again wasting opportunities
yep. Would have been a great goal if Grigg slotted his chance. great clearance work from us, quick kick from Lids to Nahas playing in front, gives hands to Grigg who kicks the worst kick of the day :banghead
-
Gee we can't kick EM fron in front and old mate pings one for them from the boundary...
-
good lord TD goes to ground like nothing else. Keep your feet. Playing with good intensity though
go tiggies
-
yep, good pressure all over the ground......except the scoreboard.
could have destroyed them with the dominance we had, but melb will still feel they have a show. need to take that away from them early this quarter
-
deeleedioooo :bow
-
My god every team we play lately have their kicking boots on
-
Jordan McKenzie you weak piece of poo.
-
My god every team we play lately have their kicking boots on
we cant control that too much, unlike our own kicking for goal
-
Umpire I will stuffing shove my cock down your throat
-

-
In before edit :lol
Gee it's stuffing annoying how teams seem to always take their chances against us, we dominate for a qtr ncant put aways sides and the other side has a decent 10 minute spell and it's game on
-
Can we actuall win a second quarter?
-
If anybody tells me Newman has been fantastic again I'll stuffing throw up, has not been near it and been torn a new one by blease every time blease gets the ball
-
We have improved but it is scary at how easy teams move the ball fwd against us
-
Lol that's a joke, that was a goal to magna lmao
-
that video goal decision will be played over and over, yet no-one will mention the hold being put on batchelor

Dont care what anyone says, these are 24/7 professional footballers, if they cannot kick straight from 15 metres in front of goal then they shouldn't :banghead be playing the game. Absolutely woeful finishing, it nearly cost us against GWS and it will cost us dearly today. :banghead :banghead
-
Happy to be in front :) Bloody hell forward line is a shambles if Lids wasn't there we would be losing been quite pleased with Conca glad he is back in the team ... Big Ivan been a fair bit quiet where has he been playing when he is not rucking?
-

It did cost us against freo and contributed heavily against adelaide.
it is a real concern
-
6.12 to 4.4. Halftime, typical story, go to sleep and when teams get on top briefly, unlike us they make it count.
Grigg, tuck, lids, white, batchelor, mcguane and jack have been our best. Special mention to x man for his intensity and physicality, 6 tackles in first 35 mins of football is a good sign. Ellis and conca have been ok too. Cotch was cut right out of the game that qtr, barely noticed him.
We could win this by 10-12 goals easy if we relax and just finish off our chances, by the same token, if we keep fluffing our chances Melbourne will grow an extra leg like they did against essendon, got to bury them in the 3rd
Edit, agree with u lozza
-
If anybody tells me Newman has been fantastic again I'll stuffing throw up, has not been near it and been torn a new one by blease every time blease gets the ball
Exactly. I dont like it and I have a right to say it.

You can find every excuse under the sun and we might even win but we are seriously miles away. Wed be killed by most other teams today.

We're up by 40 with 7 new players in. We'll pump GC next week and we'll be in the 8. Hopefully we'll get some blokes back for the Carlton game.
Some of you should wait until the end of the year before you start this. :thumbsup

any chance you could display some football knowledge and actually tell us what areas we are falling down in rather making simple generalisations.
the only thing that is stopping us from being 10 goals up is poor goal kicking.

only because once again we are not taking our chances. we have dominated for most of the game and have not been overly bad in the areas you mention. very few clangers (except kicks on goal) and decision making has generally been good, particlarly under pressure.
on the flip side our pressure has been great and melbourne are getting very few easy kicks, and no easy goals

That's your goal Morris. Gotta hold those if you're going to try and mark it

Tuck is the dead set heart of this club! IMO all round the best player we have! Mentally tough, strong, versatile, he has what our other players lack!
-
Too many stupid players, list cloggers, vfl superstars etc whatever you wanna call 'em.
Until we get rid of these types we will never be good enough.
Bugger off dude. We've just made 7 changes and we're killing this mob
C'mon coach, Most of those 7 wouldn't play in any other team!
You can find every excuse under the sun and we might even win but we are seriously miles away. Wed be killed by most other teams today.
any chance you could display some football knowledge and actually tell us what areas we are falling down in rather making simple generalisations.
the only thing that is stopping us from being 10 goals up is poor goal kicking.
turnovers, clangers and poor decision making.
Like I said if we were playing a top 8 side we'd be getting smashed.
only because once again we are not taking our chances. we have dominated for most of the game and have not been overly bad in the areas you mention. very few clangers (except kicks on goal) and decision making has generally been good, particlarly under pressure.
on the flip side our pressure has been great and melbourne are getting very few easy kicks, and no easy goals
so you agree with coach then? Do you think some of these guys are actually good enough?
It's plain to see in my opinion. Some of these blokes are try hards but miles away from being good enough for this level.
.... Like I said plain to see.... if your at the game.

anyone knows that there are players that need to iomprove or be replaced, but the carry on like we are getting flogged reeks of barrackers who dont understand the game. the only thing that is preventing a large easy win is poor goal kicking 11.22.
we are flattering melbourne with our poor kicking for goal, as we have done in the last 4 weeks

did better than your favorite team against did against them

Would rather have root canal therapy than sit through a game like that again, instant delete off the IQ, certainly no moments for the highlight reel during that poor effort. Funny thing is that McGuane had a good game but with him in the team it just seemed like the old Tigers today. Loopy handballs to players under pressure, dinky 5 metre kicks to players under pressure, running with the ball with no apparent awareness of being mown down. All the traits of the Tigers over the last few season which i thought we had seen the end of. Even our kicking efficiency which had been good to date was so far from acceptable today. We really have missed two key opportunities to increase our %, if we dont use the GC game to do that then for me we dont deserve finals even if we manage to sneak in. Its games like this and the GWS game that if we end up in 9th spot due to an inferior % we will look back and say what if.
-
A really poor performance against a team who is nowhere near being competitive. I rate the performance a 3/10 at best. Most other sides would have beaten us today. We have a really long way to go still but at least the 4 points are in the bag. A really disappointing day IMHO should have won by 20 goals if we were a serious club.

And I'm not going to blame McGuane either, I thought he was our best forward over 4 quarters but the resemblance of our style today to the 'Tige's of old' was a real worry. I have never seen so much poor use (over use) of the ball from us all year - bloody handballs back into trouble was almost like we were running a training drill of forcing ourselves into a pressure situation!
-
When are we going to smash a poor side?
We seem to raise or drop our level depending on who we play.
We look a million bucks against West Coast, Hawks and St. Kilda and against Poort, GWS and Melbourne look like we're fighting it out for the spoon with them.

Froze my t@s off for that rubbish. What has happened to the side that I saw defeat the Saints? Over-posession, lack of leadership (apart from Cotch), imbecilic movement into the forward line.
I said to my son that Nahas is just a paddock footballer (after the first quarter) and he retorted that I'm right but he will kick 3 and be selected next week - and he was right. Addam Maric is also not up to it. The youngsters I will cut some slack.
Why is it that every Coach salivates when opposition teams try to go 'one-on-one' yet Dimma and his players are frozen with fear?
-

And with Yarra Park closed I decided to travel in by train.
Never again.
I'll walk next time.
Good to have a win.
A win next week and then two eight point games against North and Carlton.
Can't see us winning either of those.
:cheers

I liked Big Tom's efforts today. He gave Eevarn a rest and filled a role when Griff was injured.

no your absolutely wrong Al.
If we played a top 8 side today we wouldve been thrashed. Fact.
We don't have enough quality players yet and we were very very very lucky we were playing Melbourne today.
-
It's funny how many of posters who actually went to the game think we were very poor. But coach and Al think we were great.
:lol :shh
-
that comment show what an illiterate simpleton you are, i never said we were great, just not as bad as some want to make out.
our biggest problem in recent times has been not taking the opportunities we have created, not a lack of creating opportunities.
this lack of scorboard pressure keeps the opposition in the hunt rather than burying and demoralising them.
besides that our we performing pretty much as a you would expect from a middle of the road side.

Al we are performing like a bottom six side ATM. Melbourne's game plan was more methodical than ours and they could have won but their skills let them down. At times there were holes everywhere today but Demon players couldn't extract or exact disposals at crucial times. You had to be there to see it.

I didn't say we were great either. Just said there's no point bitching over us when we've won with ease after making 7 changes to the side. Anyone that is bitching deserves a 12 inch shoved down their throat.
Our kicking for goal was ass but we've got the 4 points and I'll take that. Mr Tigra should shove his bible up his ass and learn a thing or two about football clubs.
-
We played like poo today because we let melbourne bring us down to their level. Should have buried them in the 2nd quarter.
We also played with probably our worst line-up all year, nearly a third of the side were VFL players, so that would explain alot of overunning the ball/turnovers/fumbles. But thats no excuse.
The shots on goal were a disgrace, and hardwick would have been ripping his hair out. No positives apart from getting the four points. We were at our worst for year for the most of today. Shocking football in perfect conditions. I'm finding it hard to pick the best 3 players. Tuck then .... ?
The polish on our disposals has been missing since the fremantle game. We need to resurrect it STAT.
Well done to mcguane, alot of haters out there (me being one) and he did what he had to do today, Probably more than what most expected. No heart in mouth stuff mainly due to his switch to the fwd line.
With no jackson, will Cotch going head to head with ablett next week?

actually you could pick get an indication that melbourne let us off at times with poor disposal watching on the box, and that it was a scrappy game.
I just find it strange that the essendon lovers want to bemoan a win over a side that beat the bummers.
considering where we are at overall, the 7 changes, which is nearly a third of our side and missing two of our best inside midfielders, as well as the bullcrap that went down during the week, like davey i'm happy to take the win.
i do find our goal conversion rate extremely frustrating and concerning, though, as that will haunt us.
-
we should be having hissy fits about whether that was a good or hollow win.
threats over the net are not cool
some perspective ffs
-
We just need to weather the storm this fortnight with star players absent, our performance in front of goal was symptomatic of our season...and against quality opposition has proved costly....plenty of positives...lets roll on to next week

these two tv experts are so sure about their own opinion that no one is allowed to have a differing opinion even though they attend the match and see the game from a proper perspective.
It's then they will start with personal insults when they can't back up their opinion which is contrary to what is reality.

when you respond by making up dribble that was never said or even alluded you open yourself open to comments about being illeterate and a simplton.
sure you do get a different perspective from watching a game on TV to watching it live, the main ones being live you can see how the game pans out away from the ball, on the TV you see a lot of the inside work that players do ( or dont do) that is easily missed sitting 100m away from the ball.
you were also the one who tried to make out that because we didnt go the game our viewpoint was irrelevant.
perhaps you could inform the club that the countless hours they spend watching replays is pointless because the only real perpective you get is from watching a game live at the ground getting wrapped up in the emotion of the crowd.
....and you wonder why you get called names like muppet

don't have to inform the club. They actually watch games live. :shh
unlike yourself i'm sure the club and the team will be bitterly disappointed in the way they played today.
And that's how it should be. :thumbsup

Snip!
ENOUGH with the stirring, infighting and personal insults >:(. Some ppl are looking for an enforced holiday.
Stick to the game topic!

hahahah performing like a middle of the road side, Al says
No worries. That may have been true earlier in the year after the Hawthorn game.
tell me einstein we didnt have 7 changes against Freo or GWS and what happened there. Thats right we played rubbish.
Todays game was a continuation of our last month. Very very average.
The club knows it, coach knows it and supporters know it.
Descent clubs bury teams and we dont. We have never had the ability for the last 20 years to do it. Why?
Not good enough, yet
The only positive i found today was that it was Melbourne who we played or we wouldve been smashed.

TFT has actually played football at senior level, have you? Not that you need to have played footy to have an opinion but you're the one who is going down the "you weren't there so you cant be right" road. So ask you this, have you ever played football at senior level or at least played footy for a club somewhere?
Two can play at that game, Tigra.
My stance on todays game is what I wrote before: "I didn't say we were great either. Just said there's no point bitching over us when we've won with ease after making 7 changes to the side. Anyone that is bitching deserves a 12 inch shoved down their throat. Our kicking for goal was ass but we've got the 4 points and I'll take that."
What did you blokes expect? We had a bloke debut today, we had numerous other young blokes and we made SEVEN CHANGES to the side that played last week. I'm not happy with the game but I accept we are not near full strength. The boys had a crack today and won the game easily. Years ago we would have lost this one.
Tigra, what is so wrong with what I have said here? I'm not a TV expert. I go to the occasional game (when you live and work in another state it makes it hard to get to every game) and I at least played footy. You're just an arrogant jackass that has NFI.

With the reactions from some you would think we did drop this game. Some posters really need to get some perspective. Wonder what happens next week if we only beat GC by 50 points. Sack Dimma?
-
actually good point.
years ago your right we wouldve lost given the week we had.
the thing is its all about finals, thats the only thing i GAF about.
wins like today means thats slipping away.
-
4 points is 4 points but lucky today we were playing Melbourne. Bad kicking is bad footy but the worst thing from today was the ridiculous overuse of handball and trying to pinpoint handballs when a kick was the clear better option. Today looked like a team that had made 7 changes as our cohesion was out of whack.
The concern for me at the moment is that our defensive efforts and structures have fallen down over the past month. It seems since the shootout win over St Kilda we've lost our way defensively (first quarter today was good though defensively). After quarter time we let too many balls go over the back in aerial contests which Melbourne then ran onto and attacked from. A decent side would've made us pay for such schoolboy mistakes. Lucky the Dees are/were terrible.
-
Wowee was I impressed with that new no.4 we had in our forward line today. Score Assists galore. woah :shh

ok whatever coach.
I wasn't the first one to snipe. All I did was voice my opinion on how crap we actually were today.
What I said first was that we had too many list cloggers and vfl superstars that aren't good enough. It was you who and Al that decided to start the personal insults which I haven't done in any post on this thread.
I don't think there's anything wrong with having an opinion. No opinion is wrong it's just your opinion.
I never once insulted anyone for having an opinion.
It just peees me off when i'm attacked with personal insults for telling it how I see it. And today we wouldve been smashed by any side currently in the eight and possibly beaten by a few other teams not in the eight.
And Yes, I did play footy but not anymore. Way too old, too slow & too unfit. :thumbsup
-
Yep, really liking Whites game.....
But its against 12 year olds. I've had enough of these type of blokes tearing it up against 12 year olds and then against the Collingwood, West Coast, Sydney's they get 3 touches that go straight to the opposition. :help
-
If anybody tells me Newman has been fantastic again I'll stuffing throw up, has not been near it and been torn a new one by blease every time blease gets the ball

No, mr tiagra, the insults were not made until you made incorrect claims about what other people were saying and made out that because someone watches the game on TV they dont know what they are talking about.

Here's my perspective for what its worth.
Scrappy yes. Poor yes. Wayward kicking for goal yes.
Not many highlights however we had 36 shots for goal . Should have won by more I agree.
Considering we had a side with 1 first gamer, A bloke playing his 3rd game and a bloke playing his first game of the year in a position he has never played at, at this level. Did anyone expect anything better? Furthermore the distraction of the week we head to deal with. WHilst I do agree we are not playing the footy we were playing six weeks ago isn't it nice at least to grind out wins when we seem to be playing poorly and we all acknowledge that we have been better this year.
Two years ago we were dying to win a game any game now we are 7-7 and outside the 8 on % and we are carrying on like we lost. Sure it's nice to win well but this is part of development. You win under all scenarios and deal with that. Whilst it's not pretty there is a means to an end. Surely the four points being banked is much better than the loss. Whilst it is nice to have expectations let them stay within reasonable parametres. Don't sit there anyone and say to me if on March 29 we would be 7-7 after 14 matches given the overhaul of the list nobody will have taken it. Perhaps it's a fitness thing with us where the quality of performance is suffering now as it did this time last year due to the stage of the list development rather than the team overall being poor. Perspective.
We were 5-5 after the St Kilda game and we have been 2-2 since. Would a loss have been better today? In the journey a club undertakes each season you will find that there are peaks and troughs and right now our performance is a trough yet we are still good enough to win regardless of the lesser quality of the opposition. IN previous years we would have lost this type of match, yet we find the same Prophets of Doom telling us we are worse than Melbourne will be next year and we are going nowhere. I just find that incomprehensible.
For me some of the performaces of our lesser likes and younger players are encouraging and some of the class to come back in Dusty, Axel, Grimes will only strengthen us even further. Whilst everyone is entitled to their opinions no matter how ridiculous at least show some perspective instead of alluding to the same old same old philosophy that the media just relishes when we bring it to the fore. At least we won.
All I hope as a fan of the RFC is that we have learnt our lesson from last year in Cairns and we can go there and beat the Suns. At least that will right the wrongs of last year and give us something new to deal with and another criteria to tick off for this season albeit a small given the opposition but nonetheless something that must be achieved.

IN previous years we would have lost this type of match, yet we find the same Prophets of Doom telling us we are worse than Melbourne will be next year and we are going nowhere. I just find that incomprehensible.
It was a moronic statement by someone that is very good at making moronic statements.
Don't bother trying to comprehend it. Easier that way.
-
No, mr tiagra, the insults were not made until you made incorrect claims about what other people were saying and made out that because someone watches the game on TV they dont know what they are talking about.
ok that might be right in your case Al and fair enough but if you read the thread again from page 8 I think, Coach threw some personal insults at me for having an opinion. I don't think it's necessary.
Anyway, i'm over it now. Whatever. All good. :cheers :thumbsup
-
Why did the callers of the game continue to crap on how young melb was?
Rivhmond had a younger side by four months.

But it was said on a public forum. That person thought of it and posted it. Considering where my team has come from at the end of 2009 turnover of list and consistency this year I just find it staggering and needing to reply to that. 7-7 is better than 5-8-1 this time last year 4-10 in 2010 and 3-11 in 2009. I see improvement at the comparative stages in each of the last four years. Yet some don't and claim that Melbourne will be better than us next year.
Whilst I appreciate Damo what you have written I have also tied to make things easier by presenting these facts in a simplistic way also in the hope that the point I am trying to make has logic and substance rather than some sort of forlorn situation with no sign of abating. :thumbsup

Here was my first and only post to you during the game, Tigra:Too many stupid players, list cloggers, vfl superstars etc whatever you wanna call 'em.
Until we get rid of these types we will never be good enough.
Bugger off dude. We've just made 7 changes and we're killing this mob
Where is the personal insult? Bugger off? I meant that as "you can't be serious".
You then took that as "Coach, you think all these players are great and are taking us into the future". You twist everyones words. You have a crack at anyone that isn't bagging Richmond. I didn't say we played well. For the 97th time, I wasn't happy with the game. I am happy we won easily after making SEVEN stuffing changes to the team.
It was your choice to twist my words into something else. You insulted me (and al) several times so I concluded my last post with 'You're just an arrogant jackass that has NFI.' That's the only insult i have dished out to you. and it's barely an insult, it's just the truth.

Tuck is the dead set heart of this club! IMO all round the best player we have! Mentally tough, strong, versatile, he has what our other players lack!
Cotchin then daylight. Tuck best player all round , you can't be serious. Love Tucky, but come on
Cotch great, but all round Tuck, plays back, mid, forward......
22 points up and we are poo..
Hands down the Dees will overtake us next year!
gotta love the hysteria some bring to the table. :lol

Not many gems win after making seven changes
Great win rfc albeit the poor kicking
We need to win at least five games to play finals
I'm not getting my hopes up because I prefer to go to the well one more time
We are building a strong list so be patient rfc fans
Rfc needs to move Newey on for Chimp
I prefer a 4 goal win every week
Today's win demonstrated that we have some depth so suck it up and smile

Roy from Coburg

that comment show what an illiterate simpleton you are, i never said we were great, just not as bad as some want to make out.
our biggest problem in recent times has been not taking the opportunities we have created, not a lack of creating opportunities.
this lack of scorboard pressure keeps the opposition in the hunt rather than burying and demoralising them.
besides that our we performing pretty much as a you would expect from a middle of the road side.
Al we are performing like a bottom six side ATM. Melbourne's game plan was more methodical than ours and they could have won but their skills let them down. At times there were holes everywhere today but Demon players couldn't extract or exact disposals at crucial times. You had to be there to see it.
actually you could pick get an indication that melbourne let us off at times with poor disposal watching on the box, and that it was a scrappy game.
What frustrates me Al is the over-possessing of the ball in the middle of the ground. While this is going on the forwards are making 1,2 and three leads. If I was Jack I would be :chuck In our first quarters we have been quick and direct but it all 'peters out' when the opposition side sets a 'loosey' or goes man-on-man. With Luke providing a new defensive pressure we should get it in there quick regardless. I blame coaches who are asking players to 'posses' the ball at all costs.
One of the effects of us inching towards goal is the collective movement of our midfield away from the centre of the ground. Hence when a point is kicked (and it has happened many times of late), they are not in a position to defend the quick rebound and surprise, an opposition rebound goal/point is scored.
BTW I take your point regarding the changes and their effect. I am not blaming the players it is a coaching issue.

Great post btw Tucker. Was that another Tucker Motivational?

We were great guys take the win and move on
Remember the cliche :4game blocks
As long as the Tiges win I grin
We're still baby chimps but the roar of the real tiger is coming so be patient
Remember 8 posts on a footy field are plenty and an oldman tuck is better than a Newman
Please Dim Sim get rid of all Melbourne rejects

lol Darcy just then on Gameday in the 3 things that he learned from the game said that Richmond need a 2nd forward target and that we tried Luke Mcguane there and it didn't work.
I thought Mcguane did pretty good for his first senior game as a forward.

The concern for me at the moment is that our defensive efforts and structures have fallen down over the past month. It seems since the shootout win over St Kilda we've lost our way defensively (first quarter today was good though defensively).
When I said that we didnt play well against St Kilda and that we werent much chop people in here got all upset. That St Kilda game damaged us in terms of how our players changed the way they are supposed to play. Unless we get back to how we were playing before St Kilda with a big emphasis on defence, the eight is going to be difficult. You cant have clubs kicking decent scores against us and hoping we can get through, DEFENCE, DEFENCE AND DEFENCE. That needs to be the focus.

One thing I notice ( especially when I go to the games ) Is that we handpass very badly. One perfect example was Deledio coming out of the backline, took the mark, had no one to go to but saw Dea and handpassed to him when he was under pressure, Dea turned it over and I think it resulted in a goal. We do very STUPID handpasses too often to people under pressure And sometimes we just need to kick the thing.

VFL PLAYER AT THE MOMENT
Hope he makes it but his disposal is crap. I cringe when the ball is in his hands.

I agree his disposal is pretty shocking, doesn't seem very sure of himself. But like rance a few years ago.
But in that instance that was Deledios fault, should be smarter than that

actually thought it was the worst we have played all yr.
we have lost games this yr and played so so so much better than that. ive actually taken more away from losses than that win.
there is a question here whats best.
play well and lose or play terrible and win. or are we really at a stage where as long as we play well the wins dont really matter.
the upside is i thought we would lose this game with so many changes and so many ordinary players getting another go at it.
persoally i ask myself how poor is melbourne? a middling side like us whos overall list is probably in reality not that much better than melbournes can play so poor make so many changes and still win .
personally i reckon this game was a step backwards especially when it comes to skills decision making we can thank our lucky stars it was such poor side we played because against almost anyone else we would have lost i have no doubt.

well done daniel. :thumbsup
told like someone who actually goes to games and sees it how it really is.
Double standards anyone?
Couple of weeks ago after the Giants game which I went to, saw live I gave my view on how I thought certain players went.
You told me to watch the replay to see how badly players really were. Because the TV would show me
Now his week you are saying that people who viewed things a certain way via TV don't know what they are talking about because they weren't at the game
What color a kettle? ;D

And to weigh into it a little, some people cannot make it to every game due to legitimate reasons say, living 300 klms away. Does that mean we can't comment on the game until we see one live?

NS, if we did that once on Sat we did it a hundred times. I've never been so frustrated watching a game for a long time.

Definitely did it more than once, hell we do it every game. You can just watch them handpass to a man under pressure. They will even handpass BACKWARDS to a man under pressure. seems silly to me

think some need to get a relaxant

Did you notice the changed structures ? The negating patterns we used against the Dee's ? Did you note which worked and which didn't ? Notice that we changed the midfield rotations (quite radically) and won the clearances and stoppages easily ?

just a question are you saying we performed poorly because of these things or better. im assuming poorly.
not having a go but please tell the changed structures, the negating patterns, and which worked and which didnt. please tell me the rotations that worked so well or what actually significantly changed from previous weeks.
1/ as far as structure goes the only thing that changed is personell . three tall forwards, jack miller vickery in previous weeks jack derickx mcguane this week. previously one ruckman in ivan getting a chop out from vickery or miller, this week ivan with derickx. a better situation imo, two tall defenders with the option of mcguane or derickx going back. yep we missed grimes but batchelor was asked to play tall. we have gone with just two tall defenders in several games this yr. at we had the option of both mcguane or derickx going back if need be.
mate that is so similar to what we have done all yr. in a lot of ways it was more flexable than we have been for most of the yr so your point is we played poorly because of poor structure i dont buy into it.
2/ negating patterns please tell what really changed from previous weeks. seems we pushed up pretty much as we have done all yr. pretty hard to pick up any subtle changes 3ooo km away in perth.
3/ midfield rotations you say we radically changed them yet the same blokes who have carried this load all yr were the ones who carried us again. it was cotchin, tuck, deledio, grigg again.
4/ clearance and stoppages havent we done well at these things all yr what was so different against melb. we did well again.
ball use decision making and skills remain the bug bear.
just to finish imo and that is all it is my opinion but that would have to be the worst we have performed all yr. the skill level made it very hard to watch. like i said ive seen us lose this yr and walked away reasonably happy we have played infinately better in most of our losses than we did in that win.
-
Best game from Houli in a while. Was really composed down back. His spoiling and tackiling was good. Overall his disposal was good. Newman looked out of sorts. Dea needs to work on his disposal particularly handballing. We over handpass. Missed a certain goal when over handpassed(luke McGuane). Conca and Tuck were good. Need to work on kicking for goal. If we kick like this against the Suns we will lose. Need to be able to bury sides. Missed that opportunity and made it hard for ourselves because couldn't kick straight

The 23 behinds we kicked on Saturday was the most since Round 21, 1995 when we beat Collingwood 14.25-109 to 7.13-55

Out of interest we've only had less scoring shots once (vs St Kilda) than our opposition since round 3. Just shows bad (goal)kicking is bad footy and it's basically cost us 5 times this year so far.
-
Watching a replay of Geelong v Melbourne from 1994 on Fox at the moment. Like all these old replays, the goal kicking is superb, you can bank almost all the forwards getting the goal from set shots from any angle as far as 50-55m. Just goes to show that as the game went on, more emphasis has been put into recruiting athletes first, and pure footballers second. Wasn't part the reason Ellis slipped from being a top 10 prospect was because he was off the pace on the 25m sprint by a fraction of a second or something? I know the players say they get in shots at training, but they need some solid chunks of shots on goal. Even the techniques are rooted. I remember as a junior and going to a Roger Merrett training camp one summer in the 90s, they picked apart our kicking action, and from then on all those who attended were ripper kicks on goal when they went back to their clubs. Where has this skill gone? Now we see blokes (lol Jack) trying to banana from a weak angle 40m out, dropping their shoulder, holding the ball crooked, dropping the ball from too high, kicking off the line, kicking their leg through on an angle, etc etc.

Although we played ordinary last weekend, the irony is we had 3 more scoring shots than in round 3 when we flogged Melbourne by 10 goals. Make the score 23.13 rather than 13.23 and the margin would've been 73 pts rather than 23. We've just got to make the most of our goalscoring chances from now on.
