After reading the article my thoughts are that Carr and Martin are quite prepared to risk going to the draft with a price on his head, betting someone somewhere will pay the $600k price.
I don't think Richmond are going to bite at that price and they've had a gutfull and are preparing to lose him without compensation if necessary.
The question then becomes whether it is worthwhile for any club to pay that amount of money in the draft. If the answer is "Yes" then they will have to pay a high draft pick to ensure they get him before others are tempted.
The next question is whether this club, prepared to pay his wage AND spend a high draft pick, will simply decide on the safer option of trading with Richmond.
If so, we stand a good chance of at least getting something for him which is where I can see Adams (either as direct trade or draft pick trade) coming into the picture.
IMO Martin has shown he doesn't care about the club or his team mates, only getting the most money in the easiest way possible. If that's his attitude then I don't want him at the club. I would rather Adams as he has already shown more character, resilience, team spirit and desire.
The only problem with this thinking is if no-one decides to pay the price in the National Draft. If that happens then I could see his price being dropped in the PSD where we would not have a decent pick to compete. Do the rules say that you must nominate the same price for BOTH the ND and PSD?
Whatever happens I'm over it.
I'm getting to the stage where I don't even care if we get nothing for him.
He's only one player and the club has, and will, survive worse.
