Heard it happened in the Adelaide game and it’s an abductor injury.

So his kidnapper got hurt?  :snidegrin

One of the footy panel shows on Monday night displayed Dusty's disposal efficiency numbers from Friday night. He was only going at 50% in the first half before improving to 61% in the second half. Reflects what we saw in the first half where Dusty was unusually fumbly and didn't give the ball off when he should have.

Lyon: Martin been a victim of his own lofty standards

By SEN
16 July 2018

Former Melbourne captain Garry Lyon believes Richmond superstar Dustin Martin has been a victim of his own lofty standards in 2018.

After a dominant 2017 which saw him win a Brownlow Medal, a Norm Smith Medal and a host of other awards, Martin hasn’t hit the same heights, averaging 5 fewer disposals per game and kicking only eight goals in his past 10 games.

But Lyon says accusations he has had a poor season are far-fetched.

“Had he not had that year, I think we’d still be looking at Dusty this year saying he’s playing pretty damn fine footy,” he said on SEN Breakfast.

“I think Dustin played at such a level last year that that is what we measure him by, and that is an almost impossible standard to maintain.”

However, Lyon also believes Martin’s effort around the ground isn’t stacking up with what he produced last season.

“I’ve got no doubt that he’s off, and I’m probably in my own mind thinking he maybe hasn’t worked as hard in game as he did last year, but he’s still a damn fine player,” he said.

“He still gives you the impression that he can turn that on almost at will.”

Essendon legend Tim Watson agreed, but said Martin could easily lift to replicate his 2017 feats at the business end of the season.

“You would not bet against him producing what he produced last year in the last month of football this year.”

The Tigers take on St Kilda at Etihad Stadium on Friday night looking to bounce back from their 2-point loss to GWS.

He’s getting pretty close to a 4 quarter masterpiece
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.

He’s not getting away with the don’t argue this year as easily as he was last year. Multiple players  are tackling him at once now too so it’s getting harder to fend of all of them at the same time.

But it’s been his kicking that’s been really down on last season and that’s why I think he’s got a groin issue also doesn’t seem to be as fit as last season.
The club that keeps giving.

Hes definitely been carrying a groin or hip most of the season, that would also affect stability/core needed for the dont argue. Having said that, he is moving better the past 2 weeks than he has the previous 10 - looks like hes getting better

Just a beast.

Easily the most watchable player in the AFL when he is on imo.

Great game last night in a very frustrating game to watch.

If my calculations are correct that makes 11 games out of 16 played so far this season that Dusty has been awarded coaches votes.
