We will win R1.

Hope so. Lets just wait and see. :pray

Reasons why we will win:

1) They have lost fevola and probably 5 goals
2) We have Farmer who may be able to do the Job on Betts
3) They are missing Judd
4) We have Jackson and Newman and we can probably put Gibbs and Murphy out of Business Tag wise.
5) New coach always produces first up better effort.

We will win by 16 points.

With the official 2010 AFL fixture to be released later this week, Richmond CEO Brendon Gale gives Tiger fans an indication of where the club stands in relation to the draw, and playing matches at the MCG.

“Over the past few weeks there has been quite a bit of speculation regarding the fixture for next season, including the prospect of four home games at Etihad Stadium,” Gale said.

“The fixture has not been finalised as yet, but rest assured our club has been lobbying the AFL to get the best possible outcomes for our members.”

“We are fully aware of the historical and emotional ties our supporters have with the MCG and the significance it holds for the Richmond Football Club.”

“To this end, we will be pressing for as many of our home games to be played at the ‘G as possible.”

The 2010 fixture will be released on Friday October 30.

Stay tuned to richmondfc.com.au for an exclusive in-depth analysis of the fixture immediately following its release.

Brendan Gale seems to have had some wins re: the fixture, still not great, but better than what it was.

Tigers do battle on fixture and come out on top
Caroline Wilson | October 27, 2009

BRENDON Gale has achieved his first significant victory in his new role at Richmond after taking his grievances to the AFL regarding the Tigers' 2010 home-and-away fixture.

In the final version of the draw, to be released on Friday, Richmond has been handed an additional two home games at the MCG and won the right to host the season-opener against Carlton on Thursday, March 25. Gale was also successful in switching the Tigers' only Friday night game - against St Kilda - from Etihad Stadium to the MCG.

The club, which finished 15th in 2009, was so concerned at the draft schedule put forward by the AFL that Gale and his president, Gary March, held talks last week with AFL boss Andrew Demetriou and his lieutenants to plead Richmond's case for a more profitable and fan-friendly fixture.

Not only had the Tigers' been handed only seven home games at the MCG but the AFL had effectively removed almost all potential blockbusters to be hosted by Richmond with no home games against Essendon or Collingwood and the home clash against Carlton not scheduled until round 20.

March put forward the club's concerns to Demetriou in no uncertain terms before the president and his new chief executive put forward their case formally to the AFL.

The club, which is expected to record a profit of more than $2 million this year, told the AFL that next year's draw would remove $1 million from its 2010 bottom line.

The finished version of the Tigers' fixture has seen the club handed the right to host the Richmond-Carlton clash in round one for the second year in succession in a bid to compensate for the absence of home games against Essendon or Collingwood. That decision will prove a financial fillip for the club as Carlton was unwilling to split the gate receipts from that game, something the Tigers have agreed to do.

March and Gale pointed out that membership numbers could be hurt by the league's decision to fixture the club only two home games at the MCG in the first seven rounds. Now it has three of the first five games with the Easter Sunday round-two fixture against the Western Bulldogs along with a home game against Melbourne in the first month of the season.

Although Demetriou has been at pains to point out the draft fixture was just that, the Tigers feared massive recriminations for their dismal record in 2009, a season which saw many experts tip the club to finish in the eight. The club was incensed at the original schedule, which had it playing four home games at Etihad Stadium and only seven at the MCG.

Not only has the St Kilda clash been switched to the MCG but also Richmond's home game against West Coast. The Tigers only have to travel once to Subiaco and, as it stands, have been scheduled to play only one game against three of the top four sides with two games only against the Saints.

The AFL has not changed its stand on the grand final rematch with Geelong and St Kilda meeting once next season. The Western Bulldogs have again been rewarded for their consistency with five Friday night games in 2010.

best addition to the RFC in 30 years, better than any draft pick or coach is Benny Gale.

Andy D loves him and we love him. He is a smart operator and the biggest key to our success.

We needed to get a home game against Essendon for it to be a 100% success nevertheless its better than what it was.

History, emotion behind Tigers' MCG demands
richmondfc.com.au
By Luke Holmesby | Tue 27 October, 2009

RICHMOND has pushed for fewer games at Etihad Stadium in 2010, with new chief executive Brendon Gale confirming the club had lobbied for a stronger MCG presence.

"We are fully aware of the historical and emotional ties our supporters have with the MCG and the significance it holds for the Richmond Football Club.

"To this end, we will be pressing for as many of our home games to be played at the 'G as possible."

In 2009, Richmond played eight home games at the MCG, two at Etihad Stadium and one at Gold Coast Stadium against Adelaide in round 14.

Its average attendance at MCG home games was 49,621, with its biggest crowd of 86,972 at the season opener against Carlton.

At Etihad Stadium, its highest home game attendance was 36,483.
