Re: Case won't effect Krakouer's future - Miller
« Reply #480 on: October 20, 2007, 04:10:06 PM »
“I don't think it makes any difference either way,” Miller said.

“It's not being considered. He's being considered totally on his football, his ability to present on the footy field.
No surprise but those two lines basically say Krak is gone. Otherwise it would make a difference if we wanted to keep him yet he was found guilty.

“He's got to go through the process in court, to go through the process in court it might be next August or September, I don't know how long it takes - these things don't get mentioned one day and heard the next,” he said.
What a joke our court system is if that's true. 20 months to make a final decision either way  ::).

Krak's court case adjourned to Feb 5

Andrew Krakouer's assault case adjourned
October 22, 2007 - 2:29PM

Former Richmond AFL player Andrew Krakouer will have to plead to a serious assault charge next year.

The 23-year-old Tigers player, his brother Tyrone Krakouer, 21, and Elwyn Roger Colbung, 19, were charged last year with assault causing grievous bodily harm over an alleged bashing.

Police allege the three men attacked 24-year-old Justin Robin Martin near a hotel in Fremantle on December 22 last year.

In July, the charges were upgraded to the more serious charge of intending to do assault occasioning bodily harm, which carries a maximum penalty of 20 years jail.

At the time, Krakouer's lawyer said he intended to plead not guilty.

The matter was listed in the Western Australian District Court in Fremantle on Monday, but only Tyrone Krakouer and Colbung appeared.

Andrew Krakouer, who lives in Melbourne, was excused from appearing, instead reporting to the Preston police station, in Melbourne's northern suburbs.

Judge Julie Wager adjourned the case until February 5, when the three accused will be required to enter a plea.

Krakouer was one of three players delisted by Richmond on Monday.

The small forward struggled to hold down a regular senior berth for the Tigers this year, after playing 102 AFL games in seven seasons.

Krakouer's career in doubt after delisting (The Age)

Krakouer's career in doubt after delisting
Martin Blake | October 23, 2007

ANDREW Krakouer's AFL career may be over at just 24, after Richmond cut him yesterday.

"I think Andrew's career with us has been reasonable," said football director Greg Miller yesterday.

"He's had his highs and lows. His first half of this year was good; his second half wasn't as good. His form dropped away a bit. I hope he still gets a chance at another league club.

"He's been no problem for us. He's been a good clubman and he's played a few good games for our club. But I guess the bar gets higher, and the seven or eight games he played this year just wasn't enough to get another contract."

In at least one sense, Krakouer has had a difficult career since he was drafted by Richmond in 1999. Lack of size — he is only 176 centimetres and 76 kilograms — leaves him with only the small forward position as an option, and each side carries only one of those.

"The defensive pressure's so important," Miller said. "He makes every endeavour. He's good at it. But it's not an easy position to play."

Krakouer played 102 games in seven seasons for the Tigers, and kicked precisely the same number of goals.

Krakouer wants to return to WA (Herald-Sun)

Krakouer wants to return to WA
23 October 2007   Herald Sun
Gareth Trickey

DUMPED Richmond forward Andrew Krakouer has signalled his desire to return to his home state of Western Australia next season.

Krakouer's manager Liam Pickering said he would meet with the small forward tomorrow to discuss his pre-season draft prospects.

"He'd like to get back to Western Australia, I think, but that only leaves two clubs," Pickering said.

"He's got something to offer both West Coast and Fremantle, but I would have thought he's got something to offer 14 other clubs as well."

Krakouer played nine games for Richmond this year.

The former South Fremantle forward joined the Tigers in 2000, but battled to cement a spot in the senior side.

He celebrated his 100th game in Round 9 this year, but managed just two appearances in the second half of the season.

Andrew Krakouer Delisted
« Reply #484 on: November 13, 2007, 04:14:49 AM »
As you all probably know Andrew Krakouer was recently delisted from Richmond. This is despite the fact that he played 102 games and kicked 102 goals. He is my favorite player for Richmond and I think it sux that he has been delisted. Are you an Andrew Krakouer fan like me? If you are then I need your help. I want to send a petition against his delisting to the director of the Richmond Football Club signed by Andrews fans. All you have to do is visit the link below and sign with your name and the suburb you live in (optional). Thanks.

Welcome to OER whitetiger. With serious assault charges hanging over his head, Krak's got more immediate concerns.

As for his footy - the modern game had passed by his type. He would've been more suited to his dad and uncle's era. Specialist forward pockets are a dying breed unless they can push up into the midfield rotation. Krak never had the engine or speed to play in the midfield. And once Shane Edwards, who has excellent endurance and speed, scored a spot in the team, that was the end for Krak.

everyone on this sire knows i was a fan of krak , but the decision was fair. he just didnt do enough which is a sin, because he had all the talent and skill , but no desire to bust his arse and perform week in week out at an approprioate level.

the only issue i have is that there are other players who should have been axed along with him but never did

As I've said before, at 24 or so years old, he should be a consistent performer in the AFL seniors. He had 5-6 seasons, that's long enough.

We can't keep these guys on the list if they're not going to help us improve.

Welcome whitetiger

I know its tough when you lose your favourite player but the club has  made a decision, a tough one to a degree and I appplaud them for. For a long time they've haven't made these type of decisions until it's a a couple of years too late.

On this point I totally agree with you xXx. I reckon there would a couple of blokes on our list who have would be very relieved indeed

whitetiger - a message of support and best wishes for the future to Andrew might be more constructive.  :)

Sad to see your favourite player finish up.

I was a fan of Hartigan & felt a little the same way.

The harsh reality is that both of these players will not take us anywhere near ultimate success.

I wish them well in the future.

theses releived blokes better perform very well in 2008, cos if they dont, they will definately be gone at the end of 08

imo i also think these players have been "saved" for one more yr because its commonly thought that this yrs draft is weak and next yrs will be much stronger

so it would be a better strategic move to have a bigger clean out after next season than the one just passed
