Strike three as Crows lose Armstrong Andrew Capel
From: The Advertiser
September 24, 2011 TONY Armstrong is the third Crow to walk out on the club in two weeks.
In another body blow to Brenton Sanderson's new side, Armstrong has requested a trade to Sydney.
He joins other wantaway Crows, forward Jack Gunston and ruckman Ivan Maric, in quitting Adelaide.
Gunston, 19, wants to return home to Victoria - where he is being chased by up to five clubs -
while Maric, 25, is seeking opportunities at another club after having fallen behind Sam Jacobs, Kurt Tippett and Shaun McKernan in the ruck pecking order at Adelaide.
Richmond is the favourite to secure the popular big man's services.Noble said the Crows - who have a sad history of losing non-South Australians to interstate rivals - were virtually resigned to losing the trio and would now try to work deals for players and/or draft picks.
"We'll have another chat with them or their managers because you have to make sure they understand we've got a new coach, a good group together and they could get different opportunities," he said.
"So if they want to stay, that's fine; but if they don't want to work with us and help us move forward, then it's best we move people out who don't want to be here."
With this year's national draft described as "shallow", Ade- laide will be seeking reason- ably high draft picks for its exit men.
"We're touching base with clubs at the moment to see what's on offer," Noble said.
"But we'd expect something of value in return for all three of them, whether it's players or draft picks."
