Exactly we can't play hardball on Houli and get him via the PSD only to hand back our banked compo pick. Will be terrible by the club and I am sure they are aware of it so the fact this is lingering for so long I think means that there is no finality on this and Adelaide are more hopeful we come to the party rather than us willing to party.

Um no I don't, wouldnt exactly call Edwards anything more than a fringe player..average at that. Maybe we just give Edwards as the last round pick may be of more value.

Ruckmen are usually overpriced when in demand. Although we won't like it, a 2nd round pick (our pick 37) is most likely the price we'll end up paying when Jacobs went to the Crows last year for picks 34 & 67. Maybe even pick 37 + Nason. As everyone else has said no way should our compo pick be on the table. Of course when we turn up to trade week we should be offering an ambit claim of a 3rd or 4th round pick for Maric.

How about we go after Maric only through the PSD and tell Adelaide to go and f themselves and play hardball with them as we did with Essendon.

I think someone like Renouf would be a better ruckman for us rather than Maric. Renouf's work around the ground is alot better and more crisp.

The four year contract is a strange one IF true.

The reported value is not much in the scheme of things for an AFL though and if we had to terminate his contract early we would not be paying out a great deal, even more so if the contract was front loaded.

Personally i have serious doubts about a 4 year contract being true though

Maric is much better than Graham . . . people are comparing stats he has collated based on being a second string ruckman in games. If he was number 1 ruck choice like Graham is, his numbers would poo all over Gus.

I thought the whole idea was for Blair Hartley to identify unfulfilled talent at other clubs. Talent that we believe we can take to the next level. Anyone can pick the top players from opposition teams, it's identifying the ones that are under performing and not getting opportunities, that's where the real skill is.

He could end up looking like a complete idiot or a genius.

I suppose we'll see.
