Rather than the cut off for memberships to be delivered before Christmas be end of November, why can't the club cut off pre Christmas memberships by mid November? Gives an extra two weeks to get them delivered.

Yeah that's fine for adults but what about kids? Kids get a kick out of receiving this sort of stuff and to have it promised that delivery will happen before Xmas and then not have it happen is disappointing

Fine in theory but still no guarantee that delivery will happen before Xmas.

Come on Bill lifes full of broken promises, false dawns and just flat out lies.  Its all part of making us stronger people..  Xmas is over rated and just a commercial advertising campaign to pump money into the flagging economy.  Tell the kids to be thankful for what they did get and just accept that well poo Happens.

I can't buy that excuse from RFCO that "all packs were lodged with Aust Post on the same day".

Fair enough, but it's the truth.

Clubs use a "mailhouse" for this sort of stuff

These mailhouses then "lodge" the stuff with Australia Post. Lodging with Aust Post means it is at an Aust Post distribution centre waiting to be mailed, doesn't mean it has been mailed. It means that the stuff sits around until Aust Post get around to moving it

As the mailhouses get cheaper postage rates for bulk postage, it is not Aust Posts priority to move these bulk deliveries, cheaper rates means they don't have too.

No a doubt in my mind that's what happened here with the membership packs.

The Club can point the finger of blame at whoever they want but at the end of the day the Club made a promise to its members and have failed to deliver (no pun intended) on that guarantee. They hired the mailhouse who clearsly haven't delivered on their side of the deal with the RFC.

Sorry but IMHO the Club has to take the heat for this .....

A question Billy.

If you had some important documents that needed to be sent to a client within a certain time frame and you lodged them with Ast. Post or a courier with a lead time that you would reasonably expect for them to be delivered on time, and they were not, would you carry the heat for that.
“For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
Nor are your ways my ways,” says the Lord.

“For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are my ways higher than your ways,
And my thoughts than your thoughts."

Yep Al I would (have had it happened).

Can I add that these days if I get something important or mailed then I follow up to make sure the intended receivers have actually got it for the very scenario you've highlighted

I post a letter via registered mail or even using Express post then I am paying extra for a guaranteed service, so yes I would expect them to deliver things on time. If they didn't then I'd be going off at them.

So would i expect to carry the heat from clients? Damn right I would and I'd also being doing everything in my power to rectify things ASAP  :thumbsup

I must admit that i view things that once you pass something on to another organisation to do what they specialise in, then the buck passes onto them otherwise you might as well be doing the job yourself.

At least you are consistent in your view on this Billy, even when the roles are reversed  :thumbsup.

Agree with the part about doing everything you can to rectify things, but sometimes too late is too late and it simply cant be undone.

I understand your thinking al, but it's just not the way I do things.

I've always believed that my responsibility to any project finishes once my client/customer has all the stuff they need/require from me

I've never been able to take the approach of once it's out of my sight or left my office it's not my problem anymore.

As I said just the way I am  ;D

I don't think that the RFC is saying it isn't their problem, just that the problem occurred with the mailhouse.

Do you think your client/customer has the right to abuse you WP when you go to the lengths you do to deliver things to them by a certain time and it doesn't happen?

Who is to say that the RFC isn't tearing the mailhouse a new one right now?

Wilbur is spot on, its a bit like WAT no excuse thread with one exception - tigers made a promise to its members - dont make promises you cant keep tiges.
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.
