Tigers hunt Knights, ChaplinBy Harry Thring
3:13 PM Tue 25 Sep, 2012RICHMOND is poised to snare two South Australian players in October's free agency period after Adelaide forward Chris Knights quit the Crows on Tuesday.
The 26-year-old left footer, who has played 96 games since he was taken by the Crows with pick No. 56 at the 2004 NAB AFL Draft, will enter the free agency period able to join any club offering him a contract.
Richmond has been strongly linked to Knights and it's believed the left footer is keen to join the Tigers.
He's not the only Adelaide-based player in Richmond's sights though - Port Adelaide defender Troy Chaplin is also reportedly in the mix to land at Punt Rd in 2013.
While Knights is an unrestricted free agent, Chaplin is restricted, which means the Power will have right of reply should he ask to join Richmond.
Knights struggled to break into the Crows' line-up this season, playing only five senior games despite solid form for Woodville/West Torrens in the SANFL.

"It has been a difficult year for Chris as he has struggled to get a regular game with our team," Harper said.
"However, his effort to remain positive, upbeat and ready to take his next opportunity has been a credit to his character.
"The club wishes Chris all the best in his future ... he will always be welcome as a past Adelaide Football Club player."
