Be incredibly surprised if any pick pre 30 is not be a better pick up than Hampson.

I'm willing to put money on at least 5 picks pre 30 not being a better pick up than hampson.

Nor will any pick pre 30 be able to play ruck immediately and reduce marics workload, thus reducing the risk of him breaking down permanently during the season 2014

Any ruckman would reduce Marics workload no matter how crap. Even Angus if he played as much as hampson is going to

I'm about winning finals and ultimately a GF and Hampson is bloody hopeless man for a second rounder. I'm peeed cause I believe we could have easily got him for a third and that wouldn't been okay

Agree.

28 is huge overs.

A 3rd rounder probably still is. Hampson is crap. Happy to be proved wrong.

He's not much of an upgrade on Big O..

Apparently he had a good game against Poot once so I went and had a look at the highlights, one highlight was him giving a free against in the ruck contest.

on what basis do you think that Carlton were willing to accept our third round pick?

On the basis that he's a crap footballer and the fact that he hasn't held down a best 22 spot in an average Carlton line up.

The fact that McBean was pick 33 shows that picks in the late 20s and early 30s are highly valuable. Understand this draft is quite shallow but Hampson is not worth a McBean pick.

McBean is a promising footballer in the VFl, he has a long way to go before we can bank him as a great draft pick.
It's that simple Spud
"I discussed (it) with my three daughters, my wife and my 82-year-old mum, because it has really affected me … If those comments … were made about one of my daughters, it would make the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. I would not have liked it at all.”

Who said he was a great pick? Only reason he didn't get a game last year was because Vickery gets a game no matter what and Hardwick went the safe option of Edwards/McG instead of giving McBean a crack. I would prefer to draft a kid who shows what Beaner did this year than give that pick up for Hampson.
