Damian Barrett on the Butler bandwagon:

If ..... there’s one thing we really like in footy ...

then    ...... it’s a low-key, old-fashioned, football-brained goalsneak. We like Butler. A lot.

Does Parrot even understand the concept of "sliding doors"?

He doesn't understand anything else, so I'd say that would be a no.

The 21-year-old had started the 2018 season in impressive style, with 13 disposals, six inside-50s, seven tackles, 48 pressure points, nine score involvements, three goals, three goal assists, and 344 metres gained in Richmond’s 26-point victory over the Blues.

“We did a lot of work over summer. We developed a good platform last year and we just wanted to keep building on that,” Butler told 3AW.

“As long as we’re putting pressure on, and not getting outmarked, then we’re doing our job.

“We’re all different shapes and sizes, so we can all be targets.

“We don’t care who kicks the goals, as long as the team’s kicking goals.”

Quick, slick small forward Dan Butler bounced back in impressive style for Richmond against St Kilda at the MCG last Saturday.

Butler’s output had been a bit down for a few weeks leading into the match. He’d kicked only one goal and averaged just 10.3 disposals in his previous three games.

But right from the outset of the Round 10 clash with the Saints, Butler was up and about.

Butler equalled his AFL career-high return of three goals. He’s now kicked three goals six times in his 34-game career with Richmond.

Butler, who turns 22 next Sunday (June 3), also finished with 17 disposals, which is the equal most he’s had since the 19 he picked up on debut for the Tigers at the game’s highest level in Round 1, 2017 against Carlton at the MCG.

To further emphasise Butler’s fine form on the day, he took three marks inside-50, among his total of seven marks, had eight score involvements, 38 pressure acts and 327 metres gained.

Good work son.

Key now is another solid performance in Dream Time. Don't have to set the world on fire, just a good 4 quarter effort.

Could easily have kicked three goals upto quarter time. Better showing than in recent times but needs a 4 quarter game.

Went at 30% effectiveness.
He absolutely butchers the ball and is becoming a bigger momentum killer than your mate Conca....
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.

Even though he’s been down on goals prior to the last couple of games and the way he just seems to casually go for the ball which he did again in the third quarter if I remember correctly, the part of his game which iv been most disappointed with this season is his pressure and tackling.

Last nights game was back to his best in that area and he and his teammates were rewarded with goals directly from it. Keep it up Danny boy!
