So we know exactly what we're dealing with here I thought I would delve into a bit of draft History to see which drafts have been hits and misses over the last 12 years.
To do this I have rated each draft as follows....
Players Drafted....
Players still on lists...
First round picks played 100 games
Players to make 50 games
players to make 100 games
and players that made 150 plus games.
I have excluded all Rookie promotions to keep it to just Raw ND picks
I have also only used the guys that were drafted that year and not players that picked up in the ND (ie Luke Ball was from the 2002 draft but was also picked up in the 2008 draft with pick 34 by Collingwood) that had already been drafted before.
now obviously the closer we get to 2014 the harder it is to judge so I will leave the last 3 years out of it for now.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/2009_AFL_draft2010This is the start of the Gold Coast pillage, as you can see it really, hasn't been a great draft for them at all with only 3 of there 10 picks playing 75 games or more.
I've made the first round picks to 17 as if it would have been a natural draft

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/2010_AFL_draftIll leave it at 2010 for now as its to hard to get a good gauge on the next 4 years but going back through you can see how hit or miss an actual Draft can be and honestly outside the first round pick it is literally a lottery!!
As far as which draft has been the worst you'd have to say 2003 was a shocker with 2005 not that far behind it.
