Richmond coach Damien Hardwick believes talented Tiger teenage small forward Shai Bolton is well equipped to build on the gains he made in his AFL debut against Greater Western Sydney at Spotless Stadium last Saturday.
The 18-year-old had nine disposals, including seven contested possessions, three tackles, and went desperately close to winning the game for the Tigers with a snapshot goal that was subsequently overturned on review.
“It was probably a game of half chances for Shai. He was thereabouts a couple of times . . . nearly kicked the match-winner,” Hardwick said.
“He’ll be better for the run this week, I’ve got no doubt about that.
“He’s got some agility, he’s got some toe, he’s got some finish . . . And not much fazes Shai, to be honest.
“We’ve just got to get him more involved, and that will come as he gains experience.
“He’s going to be a good player for us.”
