⏪ 2016 FREE AGENCY REWIND

Hawthorn sign: Ty Vickery

Richmond compensation: 2nd Rd (29 Shai Bolton)

So traded Vickery for a dual Tiger premiership player and then on-traded for possibly two top 10 picks  ;D.

It’s my favourite deal ever (hopefully). Might end up being a live trade until 2040!

What would the Dockers have to give up for Shai Bolton?

List manager David Walls speaks to @CalTwomey on Continental Tyres Trade Radio: http://

----------------

The Dockers have put forward picks 10 and 18 for the contracted Richmond star Bolton, as well as a five-year deal.

At least Freo are close to the ms rly than GC. It needs to be 10,11 not 18.

Or 10, 18 a future first for Bolton and pick in the 30s.

I don’t think freo will be dealing any future picks as they’ll want those in the likely event Warner wants to go back to WA at the end of next season.

I’d suggest that’s also why they don’t wanna deal both their picks 9&10 for Bolton as they want to trade one of those for a future first to strengthen their 2025 hand.

That’s all well and good for them but it should be a straight no from us on anything less than 9&10. Then getting picks for Warner is their own problem + I garauntee Bolton is more of a difference maker for them than Warner ever will be.

Yeah as Garlicky said they don't want to trade the farm but same with us we won't sell the house for pennies just cause we are rebuilding.

Pick 1, Baker Pick, Pick 21 and and rise in draft for pick swaps for Lions and GC still gives us a strong draft hand to rebuild.

Add 3 very good kids into the side. A fit Gibcus and Lynch. Keep Bolton and Rioli. It's not a doomsday scenarios for 2025.

Ideally we get the draft haul of God for our rebuild though.

Spot on Tigerland. Player managers will need to be told to butt out as well.

Yep and key to the rebuild IMO is also going to be the coaching + S&C staff.

We were flogged in 2024 and a lot of it was related to supporting staff IMHO.

At what stage do we chat to West Coast for Bolton.

Bolton has said he doesn't mind which club. WCE have Baker and Graham they also have Ryan and a greater history of indigenous player at WCE, which is important for indigenous players.

Pick 3 for Bolton I feel is a stretch on that, Eagles need to build. So we'd almost have to involve other picks somewhat.

Does something like:

Pick 3 and our future 2nd for Bolton and Eagles future 2nd.

I'm hearing Freo want to trade their picks for next year draft to go all in on Warner and may pass on Bolton.

IMO they need Bolton more than Warner.

They talk about K Pickett too.

Can't get all 3 but they can probably manage to get 2 of them.
