At what stage do we chat to West Coast for Bolton.

Bolton has said he doesn't mind which club. WCE have Baker and Graham they also have Ryan and a greater history of indigenous player at WCE, which is important for indigenous players.

Pick 3 for Bolton I feel is a stretch on that, Eagles need to build. So we'd almost have to involve other picks somewhat.

Does something like:

Pick 3 and our future 2nd for Bolton and Eagles future 2nd.

I'm hearing Freo want to trade their picks for next year draft to go all in on Warner and may pass on Bolton.

I’ve said this the whole way through. This is a gift. West Coast could and will absolutely get involved if the opportunity presents itself. Having 2 clubs potentially pitching with one of those clubs just appointing an ex Tiger as coach is almost too good to be true.
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.

Won’t just be 3 but I can see something like 3 and 26 for Baker and Bolton being done or 3 and 14 with one of our second rounders coming back the other way.

Think you are selling the history of Freo short in regards to indigenous players

They’ve had 11 play 100 games and four play 200. Both more than the Eagles (despite a shorter club history)

And currently have four on the list

May have been quite naive but absolutely zero indigenous players stand out to me from Freo. Hill, Jeff Farmer and Walters are it, yet Eagles have Matera x2, Lewis, Wirrapunda, Sampi, Lewis Jetta, Flying Ryan, Willie Rioli, Tim Kelly. Prob a few more.

Just looked it up, longer history helps. Freo have a heap of non obvious indigenous players, with all due respect. Grover and Alex Pearce were news to me.

But current players I can see Bolton connecting with Tim Kelly (Pickett older figure), Liam Ryan (Rioli) boys more than the indigenous boys at Freo.

Freo. Hill, Jeff Farmer and Walters are it

Dale Kickett was a very good player .. WA hall of fame, best and fairest winner and second twice.
Headland was taken number one in the draft and a premiership player whilst at the Lions.
Michael Johnson an all australian.

I expect Hartley to be sacked on the spot if that happens.... :thumbsdown

Wonder if GC and Freo can come together to please us.

We want 4 first rounders for Rioli and Bolton.

Do we accept.

Bolton and Rioli for Picks 6, 10, 13, 18. I think we do. But looks like GC are holding onto Pick 13. But if Freo who have tabled 10, 18 which isn't enough add Pick 30. Pick 30 can go to GC for points or trade bait for Noble.

Freo - In Bolton, Out Pick 10, 18, 30
GC - In Rioli, Pick 30, Out Pick 6, 13
Rich - In 6, 10, 13, 18 Out, Rioli, Bolton.

Another idea for Freo is to explore their want for picks next year for Warner.

We are likely to finish bottom 2. So we will have Pick 19-22 next year. We could trade that and Bolton for picks 10, 11 and 18.

Rich: In - Picks 10, 11, 18 Out - Bolton, 2025 2nd rounder. Could argue that we are ending up getting Bolton for Picks 10,11 and then just swapping pick 18 for next years pick 18, however with matching bids that pick 18 becomes probably pick 21-22, plus Freo increase there currency for next year raiding on Warner.

I think that's a win win.

Personally, while not an amazing result, I dont think this would be bad either.

"As good as he is, and I know he is high-end, as high-end as anyone in the comp when he's on, but I still feel like that is a lot (to give up for Shai Bolton) and I do get why they will have to do it at the same time."

Bollocks - after compo & bids it will effectively be a mid-late first and an early second which is absolute daylight robbery. :thumbsdown
