Anyone know why those cheats would get pick 18 for a dud like Levi?

stuff this system is a joke. Wasn't buddy like pick 17 compo

I'd give the hack 2 years and if not stay where you are

We could end up with pick 18ish if we lost Martin and they could get a pick just after for Casboult.

Not a broken system at all.....

Why would we deal with those mafioso mofo's again after the last fiasco?  I think they were discussing this deal at the lobster cave with Mathew Guy and Madaferi

Port Adelaide free agent Jackson Trengove has 17 goals, Rory Lobbe 16 and Ben McEvoy 16, with his dual position status a key selling point for rivals.

Should be into Trengove.....would give us coverage right down the spine...no star but arguably the best of a very ordinary bunch...

Should Richmond target Levi Casboult? The case For and Against (SportingNews)

Should Richmond target Levi Casboult? The case For and Against

SportingNews
10 August 2017

The rumours linking Carlton key forward Levi Casboult to Richmond are strong as the Tigers seek a player to take some of the heat off Jack Riewoldt, but is he the right man for the job?

Too old, too expensive, just not good enough?

And what about the kicking for goal?

Sporting News looks at the pros and cons of luring the big Blue to Punt Road.

Slide on to see if Levi is worth the risk …

Riewoldt needs a hand and Ben Griffiths isn’t the answer. Griffiths has shown he’s got the ability, can take a great mark and kick the ball a mile, but his attack on the ball has never been in relation to his physical size. Also his penchant for concussions makes his future a risk.

Casboult is prepared to throw his body around, smash packs and bring the ball to the ground if he isn’t marking it.

However, chances are he will take a clean grab. Levi leads the league for contested marks in 2017, an all the more impressive stat considering Carlton has the second-fewest inside 50s.

He’s a free agent so the Tigers wouldn’t need to trade, and as a late bloomer he isn’t going to cost the earth.

He’s also quite durable, missing less than three games a season in the past four years.

Casboult can take a mark, no-one denies it, but it’s what he does next that’s the problem.

He’s notoriously one of the worst set shots for goal in the league and messing up good passages of play with a crap finish can demoralise a team.

At an estimated $600K to $700K he would be taking money the Tigers would be better off using to keep genuine stars like Dustin Martin and putting aside for Rioli, Butler and Bolton’s future contracts. If they lost one of those kids because they had to pay an ageing Casboult it would be a disaster.

Levi turns 28 before next season starts, which isn’t young, and the beating his body takes will likely see him done in another four years, so where’s the long-term planning?

Richmond would be better off saving its money and investing in big kids in the draft.

The forward set-up they’ve got seems to be going just fine without a second tall – hell, they’re even winning without Jack down there!

Levi Casboult (Carlton)

An unrestricted free agent which means clubs like Richmond will be very keen to add a goalkicker who pinch-hits in the ruck without having to quibble over numbers or draft picks.

The Tigers or someone else would need to pay him around $600,000 and give him a three or four year deal.

But while he is limited in some capacities — he will never kick you 50 goals — he is exactly what a team like Richmond needs.

The best contested mark in the competition who can also give you 40 minutes in the ruck per game if you need it.

He wants a long-term deal and knows this is the final chance to set himself up financially.

And if Ty Vickery was worth three years and $500,000 a season at Hawthorn, Casboult is worth $600,000 a year later given the 20 per cent uptick in the TPP.

His manager denies he has locked in a deal with Richmond — which officially he isn’t allowed to anyway — but all signs point to them as the leading suitor.

Would be an upgrade on any of Hampson, Soldo, Maric, Griffiths or Elton but FMD we're scraping the bottom of the barrel if we go after this guy.

If the Tiges finish top4 and win at least 1 finals match then they should be a choice destination for better talent than this...

That doesn't make much sense.
If he is an upgrade on those 5 Tigers, how is that scraping the bottom of the barrel?
If we get rid of those 5 and draft a few KP kids we will be in a much better position financially and in a team sense.
Love or like Casboult he would be in our best 22 and imo would do wonders for our forwardline set up.

Not sure, but there is a rumour that Jack Darling may well be available. Would we be interested in him?

Levi Casboult will not be at Richmond in 2018 (Herald-Sun)

Those who don't want Casboult at Richmond will be happy.

Levi Casboult will not be at Richmond in 2018

JON RALPH,
Herald Sun
12 August 2017

RICHMOND will not offer Levi Casboult a deal next year as it considers bolstering its list with two first-round draftees instead.

The Blues free agent has been heavily linked to the Tigers, who are on record as keen pursue a second key tall.

Coach Damien Hardwick this year confirmed Richmond had pursued Brisbane’s second-year forward Josh Schache, but Casboult will not be at Richmond next year.

The club’s determination to secure Dustin Martin on a deal in excess of $1 million will stress the club’s salary cap.

It means they could end up using both their first-round picks in the draft, with Brett Deledio deal handing them Geelong’s 2017 first-round pick.

Those picks are currently 15 and 16, with the Tigers also holding an extra third-round pick.

Shaun Hampson returns to VFL football this week and the club is hopeful Ben Griffiths can overcome shoulder and concussion issues next year.

It means Casboult will have to find another bidder for his services, with the key forward keen for a lucrative long-term deal.

Brendon Bolton could not guarantee he would be at Carlton.

“We’ll see how all that unfolds, I’d like to think so, but it always the unknown,” Bolton said.
