The last 4-5 games saw us exposed with the one ruck and one key forward.
Also, sides rebounding the ball through the corridor saw us badly exposed off our f50.

Only been one game since Soldo been out.Wasn't to bad against the crows Nank lifted  second half.

Balmey said if there was no next week then Lynch would have been picked to play. They've erred on the side of caution to make sure he is certainly right for our next game.

X-ray on the finger he hurt previously. Lynch said on camera it's an old injury. Tom Browne said Lynch will still play but it could hamper him & that he'll require surgery on the finger in the post-season.

Tigers superstar Tom Lynch had a scan today. On his finger. I understand it’s the same one that needed surgery / caused issues in July. Richmond say he’ll be right against St Kilda, and that It won’t stop the champion forward.

Lynch indicated he’ll have something done on it again. Post season. It’s obviously causing some type of issue. Which is a bit of a concern with potentially three massive games to go.

Richmond star Tom Lynch sends injury scare through camp ahead of semi final with St Kilda

The West Australian

Tom Lynch insists he'll be right to go in the semi-final clash with St Kilda.

Controversial Tigers forward Tom Lynch has sent a scare through the Richmond camp just days out from their semi-final with St Kilda.

The big man was spotted by 7NEWS cameras getting scans on an existing finger injury on Tuesday, but is confident he’ll be fit for Friday’s match.

“It’s an old injury and we’ll potentially do something at the end of the year,” Lynch said when quizzed about the scan results.

Lynch underwent surgery on his broken finger at the start of July and was forced onto a charter flight to Queensland just hours after the operation to beat Victoria’s strict COVID border crackdown.

“I had to obviously (act) fast and then go into surgery (the same day as scans),” Lynch said at the time.

“I ended up getting out of hospital about 4pm, 4.30pm, and then going straight home, getting my bag and then straight to airport and flying out.

“It was a pretty quick turnaround but I got up here (to QLD) in time.”

Lynch remains crucial to Richmond’s premiership defence and missed last week’s 15-point loss to Brisbane with a hamstring strain.

It’s been a controversial season for the Tigers big man who has struggled to remain out of the headlines for all the wrong reasons.

Since arriving in Queensland to join his teammates, Lynch has faced three striking charges – including one on Bomber Michael Hurley which was referred directly to the Tribunal, and was also fined for shoving Lion Alex Witherden’s head into the turf.

Another beat-up story from Browne but if Lynch's finger is still an issue that won't be corrected until offseason surgery then it could explain why his contested marking and goalkicking accuracy seem to be below par this year.

Lynch rated definite starter in AFL semi

Richmond coach Damien Hardwick claims Tom Lynch having a scan on a problematic finger is a "non-issue" and the Tigers forward is a certain starter for Friday night's AFL semi-final.

The former Gold Coast big man has missed the Tigers' past two games, including their qualifying final loss to the Brisbane Lions, with a hamstring strain.

Despite overcoming that injury, Lynch has been hampered by a finger since surgery in July and underwent a scan on Tuesday.

Hardwick claims he is not concerned by the 27-year-old's fitness and he will definitely take on St Kilda at Metricon Stadium.

"First I knew of it was (Wednesday) when someone said he had a scan on his finger. For us it's a non-issue," Hardwick told reporters.

"(Lynch) trained strongly today, as he has throughout the week."

Hardwick says it was a "calculated decision" for Lynch not to play in last Friday night's 15-point defeat at the Gabba.

"He was 98 per cent ready to go last week. We thought we'd kick ourselves if we pushed him maybe a session too early and then he missed the remainder of the year.

"We backed our medical staff in, we think we'll get a really good result and he's trained incredible this week."
