I watched The Sunday Footy Show too and there were no evidence given. Nothing at all!!
Just a wanker with egg on his face that had to justify his position as a “footy expert” when he went hard at someone without all things factored in.
Even the panel were laughing at him for making a fool of himself!!

Remember Lynch was up there in the Colman Medal when you and he said what you did.
If he was sitting on a couple of goals for the year maybe your comments may have been justified.

You both have been proven wrong, maybe instead of trying to save face, admit you got it wrong and we would move on.

Most commentators were quite reserved in knowing that lynch was always going to be a long term prospect but Lloyd went as far to call him a liability and I’m glad Dimma fires back by saying Lloyd probably doesn’t know how to spell the word

Big forwards still key to AFL glory

Ever since footy jumpers had laces on them, key forwards have been the most important figures in the game.

Coaches will say that defence wins premierships but in my opinion that only adds to the value of a key forward.

We can see as the season gets down to the business end that the sides I would consider the premiership favourites all have in-form big forwards.

This previous weekend saw Tom Hawkins (5.2), Josh Kennedy (7.0), Tom Lynch (5.1) and Jeremy Cameron (3.2) all play key roles in important wins for their side.

Of the top six of the Coleman medal, which is led by Cameron and includes all the above names as well as West Coast’s Jack Darling, all bar second-placed Kangaroo Ben Brown come from genuine premiership contenders.

The seventh name on the list, Brisbane’s Charlie Cameron, is the only player who is not a key forward.

It wasn’t that long ago we were talking about the end of the big key forward but if you have a look at the top five on the ladder, they all have one thing in common, and in most cases two.

That is dominant big forwards.

When Richmond won its flag in 2018 with a small forward line built around Jack Riewoldt, there was a lot of talk that this was the way of the future.

Fans and even some commentators got swept up in the narrative that the game was set to change permanently.

Except Richmond, the side who had pulled off the premiership with an unorthodox offence, had other ideas.

They went hard after Tom Lynch because they knew that although it was possible to win flags without a couple of big forwards, it was certainly easier if you had them.

Star recruit Lynch wins Tigers' respect

Far from upsetting the apple cart, Tom Lynch's Richmond teammates speak glowingly of what he has brought to the AFL club.

Having never played finals in eight seasons at Gold Coast, Lynch - along with partner in crime Jack Riewoldt - looms as a potentially dominant force this September.

The 199cm forward has well and truly hit his straps over the past month, booting 17 goals from his past five games and looking every part the star recruit he was billed as when he arrived at Punt Road on a lucrative deal last off-season.

While commentators have lauded his recent form, club leaders were impressed from the start with the 26-year-old's workrate, hunger and willingness to adapt to Richmond's system.

A highly-talented key forward in his prime, Lynch was never going to come cheap, and vice-captain Alex Rance openly questioned as early as last May whether the Tigers ran the risk of "upsetting the apple cart" by splashing out on the free agent.

Veteran utility Shane Edwards says in reality, Lynch fitted in seamlessly and quickly won the respect of his teammates.

"Any time you've got a chance to add someone like Tom Lynch to your team, you take it every day of the week," Edwards told AAP.

"It's kind of funny, seeing all the external noise from the media saying that he had a slow start. Really, he was just without Jack (Riewoldt), in a new system with no pre-season. And he was providing so many ground-balls for our small forwards.

"We're constantly reassuring him in meetings and stuff how important and how crucial he's playing. It's really good to see him get some reward on the end of it."

Perhaps the happiest surprise for the Tigers so far has been Lynch's durability.

Only two Richmond players have not missed a game this season - Dion Prestia is one and Lynch, who had knee surgery during the off-season, is the other.

"I think if you'd said in early-January that he'd be one of (two) players to play every game so far, the medical staff would tell you you're pretty silly," Tigers defender Nick Vlastuin said.

"His continuity's been amazing.

"I didn't know Lynchy was so good on the ground either until the last couple of weeks. It's been pretty wet and he's been super.

"Now with Jack back as well, it kind of throws another dynamic out there."

The 199cm forward is the No. 1 player in the competition for scoreboard impact since Round 17.

Lynch has booted 11 goals in the past three rounds, taking his season tally to 45, and his seven score assists is the third-most in the league.

In total, the 26-year-old has been involved in 36 of his side’s scoring chains — the highest number of any player.

Against the Magpies on Friday, Lynch tallied 16 disposals, 13 score involvements, six marks — two contested — five goals and two goal assists.

It’s a stat line which not only highlights the all-round nature of his game but also the many avenues of scoring he possesses.

“Tom’s just a quality player and he’s been really impressive for us. He’s really strong and his hands are elite,” coach Damien Hardwick said post-match.

It’s easy to forget, in a struggling Gold Coast side, Lynch kicked more than 40 goals in four consecutive seasons from 2014 to 2017

And, in a standout 2016 campaign, Lynch booted 66 goals and a took a league-high 62 contested marks.

This season, his 41 is the most in the competition.

Melbourne great Garry Lyon believes Lynch could be the difference in the Tigers' hunt for a flag.

"This is why what's going on now at clubland in terms of targeted recruiting is important, because they've identified what they needed and they put all their chips in to it and they were able to pull it off," Lyon said on Fox Footy.

"He could end up delivering them another premiership and that's why it (targeted recruiting) is so critically important.

"He is looming larger every single week. You can just see on a nice warm day in September that he rips the whole thing apart."

Lyon also said the criticism of Lynch earlier in the year was laughable.

"The questions about him earlier (in the season) were all nonsense," he said.

"He was a bloke trying to find his feet who hadn't done much of the pre-season and he was just going to get fitter during the season as opposed to coming straight out and getting fitter now.
