Another stellar weekend for the umpires...it gets worse week after week

Yes we won the free kick count but today it was not about the number of frees but rather momentum killer moment

Below is what I've just posted on the match day thread

"I know we were never likely to win but yet again the umpires have heavily influenced the game at a crucial time.

In the 3rd about 10-15 mins in & we were still in the game that touched ball by Brown that wasn't called and led to a very soft goal to Carlton, from there the heads dropped and they scored 3 or 4 in the space of 10 minutes. Game over!

I was right behind that kick and it was clearly touched, you could tell simply by how it deviated and floated. That an ump less than 10 metres missed it is disgraceful but no surprise considering how bad the standard of umpiring is right now

Would it have changed the result?  Probably not but it certainly was a momentum killer and when you have such a young side out there the impact is huge"

Well except for when a virtual smother gets paid as a mark and it turns the game....oh and blatant throws are ignored for the entirety of the game...but apart from that it was all hunky dory.... :shh

AFL boss: Umpiring as good as it’s ever been

AFL chief executive Andrew Dillon has responded to the widespread criticism of the quality of officiating this season – and his comments have raised eyebrows.

Grant Thomas has got some excellent ideas that all great football minds agree with and that is we should get rid of the prior opportunity rule.

If someone can post that article from the Herald Sun it would be much appreciated. He makes a lot of sense of which I have been saying all along, the game hasn't ever been the same since they stuffed it with that stupid rule.

Make it easier for the umpires not harder.
The club that keeps giving.

And I thought it was me being one eyed regarding throws.

One rule that needs to be sorted is that when a player is tackled fairly and play spills over the boundary line. It turns a HTB into a throw in. Does my head in.

I see freos complaining about all the ‘missed’ frees they were getting means we are in for a reaming tonight.

How was that holding the ball against Browne (I think) when the ball was loose behind his back and the tackle held it against him?

Richmond player runs somewhere not even close to the protected area- 50 meters
Freo player stands well within the protected area- gets a warning
Our game has never been umpired better

Balta marks, Brayshaw not in marking contest and a metre closer stands the mark, Balta points it out, ump calls play on  :-\

Laura Kane "Nothing to see here"

Umps boss McBurney "Nothing to see here"

Andrew "out of touch" Dillon "umpiring the best it's ever been!" And "nothing to see here"
