What a dumb goal to cop. It was defended well out wide initially pushing him higher, which is what you should do as a defender,  in all fairness was an absolute peach of a ball but still poo defending from smith

It goes in tie breakers. First points, then goal differential, then goals for. Currently KSA have us on GF.

It's going to go down to beating Thailand and hoping Japan win because we aren't scoring poo this game. First 20mins were great, pedestrian since.

Considering we couldn't even beat them last time, and combine that with Japan tanking it's going to be difficult

Bozza not happy. Spot on though

I'm yet to check the table myself but they just said on Fox if we win by 4 and KSA win by 2 we will be on same GD and GF. After that it comes down to head to head and we win that one. Pretty much we just want Japan to win. We of course have to beat Thailand but if we can't even do that then we don't deserve to be in the WC.

Yep agree, we barely deserve it as it is, we are too predictable and slow going fwd, I hate this rubbish possession game, it's akin to loose defenders in afl getting 35-40 useless pad starting possessions.

I hate the formation. We don't have the quality to play 3 defenders with wing backs.

What an insipid performance  :thumbsdown. It was like watching the Socceroos of 30 years ago. Never seen so many straightforward passes miss their target  :help. Japan just had to sit back and wait for the dumb turnover to hit us on the break. When we did get the ball forward we were out of ideas (didn't fire a shot on goal for the whole second half despite being behind on the scoreboard) We don't deserve to go to the World Cup if we're dishing up clueless skill-less garbage like last night  :banghead.

Going forward, I don't see Japan doing us any favours. So that means a 3rd place finish in the group and off to the play-offs like the old days. First up would be one of South Korea, Syria or Uzbekistan. If we get past that playoff, then currently we would end up playing Panama for a WC place but it still could be the USA who are only a point ahead in 3rd spot in the CONCACAF group  :-\.
