Coburg are certainly hitting media street

Gotta say all these articles are covering all bases - we love Craigieburn, we love Coburg, the councils are great, we could go broke & fold etc etc

They're certainly not giving an impression of a club in control.

Are any Richmond players not in the Shepp. squad playing for Coburg this weekend?

From Coburg twitter:

"Coburg Football Club is pleased to announce Nick Carnell has again been appointed Captain of the club for season 2011."

Reading from Essendon forums, both Coburg and Bendigo kicked about 10 goals each (there was no scoreboard so no one knows who actually won). Coburg were a couple of goals down apparently at 1/4 time before kicking 4-5 goals to 1 to lead at half-time. After a even 3rd qtr Bendigo had the better of the last.

Browne and Postie played. From Essendon's BF board: "Jay Neagle .... Again spent all day in defence and looked out of his depth opposed to big Andrew Browne and young up and comer Jayden Post. Often got caught ball watching and let his opponent give him the slip."

I kept score.
Coburg 11.11 Bendigo 12.12

Contin, Browne, Westhoff, Nason, Webberley, Taylor, Macdonald, Gourdis and Post played.

Taylor only played 1st quarter. After half-time sat in the stand with ice on his calf.

I saw Contin several times last year and today I finally saw what good judges have been saying. I reckon he has improved heaps.

Several Richmond players watching, a couple bandaged.

Cheers for the top report FF  :cheers. A shame about Taylor. Hopefully he keeps his chin up and it's not too serious a calf injury (fingers crossed it was just a hefty knock).

I rate Contin. To me he's a natural footballer who just needs to boost his endurance to play midfield at AFL level.

How did Goo do today FF?

How did Goo do today FF?
Some good things, some not so good.
His closing speed is amazing but he often seems to spoil the ball to the opposition's advantage.

He went for a run from back pocket to half forward in the last quarter burning players off as they came at him but unfortunately got tagged as he was taking about his 6th bounce.

His foot skills looked ok. I find him a hard one to form an opinion on.

Taylor looked to be quite happy. Maybe nothing much in it, re the ice.

Gourdis is an interesting one. I still think there's something there. Really hope he comes on this year

Ta FF.

I must admit I've never thought Goo would ever make it. IMO his kicking technique is too flawed to fix. Under pressure it will come undone. I can see why he attracted attention from recruiters given his size and athleticism but in the end the game is football and you need to be able to kick well especially these days and even moreso playing and rebounding out of defence.
