‘Ticks me off’: Star escalates Twitter warTyson Otto,

29 April 2019 7:30pmRichmond forward Jack Riewoldt isn’t buying Channel 7 reporter Tom Browne’s explanation for his early reporting of the Tiger’s injury update last week.
The pair are yet to smoke the peace pipe after Riewoldt accused Browne of telling a fib on Anzac Day after the Seven journalist was the first to report on social media that the Tigers’ premiership star had avoided needing to have surgery after injuring his knee in Richmond’s win over Melbourne on Wednesday night.
Riewoldt suffered a posterior cruciate ligament injury in his right knee and sat out the final term of the Anzac Day eve clash — but the club didn’t confirm his 6-8 week injury until late the following day.
Browne’s ability to beat the club to the punch clearly irritated Riewoldt, who accused the reporter of guessing the result of his knee scan — which was only carried out after Browne had already tweeted that the scan had taken place.
Riewoldt clearly wasn’t impressed and savagely hit back at Browne.
Both Browne and Riewoldt were refusing to back down on their positions when they went on Melbourne radio on Monday morning.
“I don’t guess, I’ve got good sources and Jack shouldn’t question my integrity in that regard,” Browne told Triple M’s Hot Breakfast.
“He’s entitled to raise the prospect that he didn’t have a scan, but between Wednesday night and when he had that scan at 3.30pm I can tell you people had looked and spoken about his knee.
“Around town I speak to the right people”.
Riewoldt told Nova 100’s Chrissie Sam & Browny that he believes Browne was “wrong” to speculate about the nature of his injury.
“I actually saw Tom Browne at the club and I was getting into my car to go and have the scan and he’d already tweeted that I’d had the scan and seen the specialist,” Riewoldt said.
“I just wanted to call it out because it’s wrong.
“And the fact that they think they can use a source to see medical records or to find out your medical history is just one thing that ticks me off.”
The response from footy followers last week was well and truly in favour of the Richmond forward and fellow AFL stars Luke Hodge and Patrick Dangerfield also chimed in.
It was later confirmed the forward is set to miss eight weeks after it was found the PCL injury was high-grade.
