7. Brisbane - Tom Swift Gun will be better than Rich & Hartlett
8. Rich - Vickery Must take the ruckman and will be a good solid player for us for many years barring injury
9. NM - Shaun McKernan Big bodied player who will play in 09
10. Adel - Jack Ziebell Wont be able to resist the next best available
11. Pies - Steele Sidebottom They have been into him for a while and will take him here
12. Stk - Chris Yarren Bugger me dead how does he slip so far down ???
13. Sydney - Lewis Johnson - Under aged player that I would love to slip to 26 but wont happen.
14. WB Ayce Cordy
15. Geelong - Stephen Hill Bolter will suit there midfield structure
16. Hawks - Phil Davis Solid FB should go here but so could 10 others i.e Strauss, Lisle, Shoenmakers
At 26 hoping one of Suban, Lisle or Blease drops to us.  Vickery and Blease would be good as they both barrack for the Tigers !!!!!

Hope you are right with Vickery or Trengrove - both exactly what we are lacking!

A Tigers fan asked Emma Quayle about pick 8.....

Hi Emma,

Great job... a quick question with your thoughts on the Tigers, it is well talked about that they are keen on Hartlett and Vickery, however do you know who else they have an interest in should these 2 be gone by pick 8? cheers.

---------------

Thanks Dizzy, I can't see the Tigers going without both Hartlett AND Vickery. I think one will definitely be there, possibly even both which would make things interesting. On the off chance they're gone it will mean someone - Jack Ziebell most likely - will have pushed down the order a bit, and will be the one they go for. - Emma Quayle

In what way?  He'll still be there when we take our pick 58 imo.

We would be rapt if the draft went like that. Freo's history would say they are stupid enough to bypass Rich lol.

Blease did his AIS scholarship week at Punt Rd this year just as Cotch did his in 2007. So the club would know Blease and what he is capable of well.

I actually like Blease as a player. He has a 2nd gear and alot of pace. Ive seen him break away from opponents on the run - easily.

Others however criticise Blease as being to skinny and being a hff, wing type. Nevertheless if he was there at our 2nd round pick, youd have to have a look at him.

that's good to hear.  can't see us not picking one of these 2 players.  i'd certainly hope one if not both are around when pick 8 comes.  not too interested in ziebell

Freo is the wildcard. If they are only bluffing and actually play it safe by selecting Rich then there's a chance Hartlett and Vickery could be gone by our turn  :-\. However if Freo are nuts and go for a Hill over Rich then the flow on effect is good for us as at least one of kids we want will slip through to us. The same thing goes if Essendon or Carlton go for Yarran. We want clubs above us to risk going for kids with X-factor. A conservative draft reduces our options at pick 8.

More from Emma Quayle...

As for Richmond - I think if Tyrone Vickery is there he would be a great pick for them, he plays ruck but will also give them a young, strong-bodied key foward proposition, someone with a bit more bulk to him than Riewoldt, Hughes etc. - EQ

I'm now hoping for Vickery @ 8 and Mitch Brown @ 26

I'm interested in the reasoning for Mitch Brown @ 26.  Suban, Lynch, Heyne and   He can take marks and kick goals in school footy but has shown bugger all more at the higher level.  Looks very raw in the Gourdis way.  Will be a slider imo.

It seems Mitch Brown's stocks have gone up big time as he's grown 7cm in the past year  :o and he's now 195cm. He's probably got a fair bit of development left in him too getting use to playing in key positions at his now taller height.

Our chances of getting Vickery look good now if the Age report today is right that Port want Hartlett.
