The ongoing option - by statement or implication it doesn't matter MM.

Do you not have the option of a GF guarantee this year?
Yes, but it was meant to be ongoing

What? The price or the option?
Far as I can see you still have the option FNM.
You would be offered the chance to buy the guarantee each season
That will be phased out now

Not going forward - the 'very' implied option when it was first offered.  That's the whole issue here.  I wouldn't have a problem if they didn't sell the concept that way initially (the reason I took it up).  My option now is to join the social club at a greatly increased premium for 'benefits' I don't want and will never use.  And it turns out that social club members always had this option anyway - so really I am not getting offered a new option at all, but rather an option to discard what I had been promised and take up another much more expensive version.  Wonder what everyone receiving the benefits of multiple years membership would be saying if they did away with all memberships except the coterie versions?  Ante up or miss out.  Yeah, that would be acceptable I'm sure.

I honestly don't get your gripe.
The GF guarantee is still there for you as promised, just more expensive than previous and with added benefits.
If you can't afford it well that's bad luck I am afraid smokey.

You'll understand when they get to the stage when the social club membership gets too big and they'll draw people out of a hat who can get tickets.
smokey lives interstate, a social club memberhsip is totally useless to him, that's why he got the guarantee. They should at least honour their deal with interstaters, not many other options open to them

It's not the affordability MM, it's the conditions the original option was sold on being removed when it suited the club.  If the club is serious about wanting the supporters to come to it's rescue (yet again) with messages of hope and trust then it has to play the game itself.  Can't you see how the trust has been removed by this decision?  The option is no longer there for me.  A social club membership costing hundreds of dollars more is available, just like the expensive coterie groups have always been available.  And just like every other year prior to the GFG being offered - none of these options were affordable or suited me so I don't take them up.  The GFG was suitable and was offered as an ongoing renewable (first right of refusal) option that I saw value in while supporting the club financially within my means.  If the AFL took away the tickets that the club had earmarked for this option then I could wear it - the club had no choice in the matter - but I just see this as the club treating the members and supporters like cash-cows (fools) that will keep supplying money regardless of the message.

Yep, Orwell was on the money.  So let the unequal pigs pay for the rescue - I won't be.

Never said they were MM but I have earned the right to be annoyed about it.

Sure have.
What I want to know is, why hasn't the club sent a letter to everyone saying they're going to phase it out?

I hope you are keeping track of all this.

My gripe is contained in these words from the club's original official spiel:

"Members who secure a Grand Final Ticket Guarantee will be given the first right to renew the Guarantee each season. With a limited number available, you need to get in now so you don’t miss out on Richmond Grand Final action in years to come. You've supported the Tigers through some tough times - make sure you are there to celebrate the good times with us.  "
