PSD Selection 2
« on: October 09, 2009, 12:51:26 PM »
Who is available?

Is it too soon to tell?

Luke Ball if doesn't get a trade will most likley go in and get picke dup at Pick 1. Heres hoping so then we have the field to choose from?

Heard Matthew Stokes has walked out on Geelong?

Anyone else?
Go Tigers!

From what i've seen of the PSD over the last few years, it's massively overrated and we'll end up picking a kid or VFL/SANFL/WAFL player.
And you may not think I care for you

Stokes has re-signed.
I guess you know when lists have to be lodged, but it appears Melbourne is interested in Ball. I don't rate him anyway.
I can't see any big name slipping to us, happy to pick up a kid who has played some senior footy.

Ah he re-signed!

Well Cousins came through the PSD, Liam Jurrah did as well.

If we work hard we can get the pick right.

Bradshaw to retire and then put his name in the draft or PSD.

Jesse Smith leaves North Melbourne with a swipe (Herald-Sun)

Jesse Smith is available if any club is willing to accept the injury risk....

Jesse Smith leaves North Melbourne with a swipe
Jay Clark From: Herald Sun October 11, 2009

NORTH Melbourne has been upset by Jesse Smith's decision to walk out on the club, claiming its facilities are not good enough.

Smith will nominate for the draft in a move that will deliver nothing to the club that says it has supported him throughout five injury-riddled seasons.

In an explosive and bitter end to trade week, Smith's manager, Liam Pickering, said yesterday the Kangaroos did not have the right "tools" for his client's rehabilitation.

In a further blow, talent identification expert Neville Stibbard said Smith, 23, had the talent to become an AFL star.

"Jesse is a genuine A-grade player," Stibbard said. "He is as good as Brendon Goddard . . . he is an elite talent."

The midfielder has played only two games in the past two years and 27 amid a horror run of hamstring and ankle injuries.

Would we risk him? Anyone know much detail about how bad the ankle really is?

Send him to Germany / U.S / wherever for 2010 to get his ankles right.  Come 2011, we'll have another gun player.

If he is the best available played at pick 2 in the PSD then yeah I suppose you take him

What sort of contract do you give him is the question I reckon

exactly.  if he's available at pick 2 in the PSD i don't see why not.  esp in a allegedly 'weak' draft.  he's the perfect guy to pick up.  high reward if he can overcome his injuries.  if not, no huge loss.

Too big a question mark for my liking ..the upside is great but his past history of injury is just too great to ignore
