Hi everyone, I hope you all had a great christmas day, well well well, Ive come back to this brothel of a situation with Mr Krakouer. Just listening to ABC radio, i think its fair to say that reading between the lines of the commentary...if you know what I mean, this is a very very serious situation for all. For mine, its simple, if hes found not guilty he stays, if he gets found guilty he gets the sack. We should all wait and see the outcome however and be fair to everyone.

"My client Andrew Krakouer is a professional footballer who plays for Richmond and he's due to return to Melbourne now," Mr Prior told the court.

The two brothers will appear in Fremantle Magistrates Court for a committal mentioning on January 4.

Yep this case will be dragged out  :-\

The media will also have a field day with the mob waiting outside the court ::).

Krak threatened with payback
« Reply #242 on: December 28, 2006, 05:39:27 PM »
They just showed Krak heading into court on Ch 10 news. The injured guy's sister reckons they've fought before  ??? and the family is threatening paypack if the court doesn't find Krak guilty.

Krakouer threatened with payback
The Age
December 28, 2006 - 1:55PM

Richmond Aboriginal AFL star Andrew Krakouer has been threatened with traditional payback by family members of a man he is charged with assaulting in Fremantle.

About two dozen police stood guard outside the court amid fears of reprisals by more than 20 friends and family of Mr Martin, who is also Aboriginal.

"Hey Jimmy, what goes around comes around ... 10 times worse," yelled one woman as the brothers drove away under police escort after their court appearance.

Mr Martin's grandmother, Theresa Walley, told reporters outside court that there could be traditional Aboriginal payback against the Krakouers.

"If the court doesn't give justice there will be payback," Ms Walley, who describes herself as a Fremantle Nyoonga elder, said.

"You can't walk out into the street, or go into a pub and have a drink, without a crowd wanting to bash you up, you're running from the crowd all the time."

Ms Walley said Andrew Krakouer and her grandson had been friends who played local football together.

Mr Martin's mother, Sheryl Martin, briefly arrived to join the waiting crowd and broke down in tears to be comforted by relatives.

Justin Martin's younger brother, Kerin Martin, 21, later told AAP that he was angry at what had happened and the family was devastated.

"At first I was pretty angry, but dad just said just think about Justin getting better, so I've been thinking about Justin," Kerin Martin said.

He said his brother was in intensive care with machines to help him breathe.

"When he went into a fit (on the night of the alleged attack), I think he got a lot of stuff in his lungs so they need to clear his lungs up," he said.

"It's pretty devastating, just worried about Justin."

He said despite what had happened, Andrew Krakouer's mother and his mother were friends.

"His mum and my mum go to the same church and they're good I think."

Make no mistake, this is not similar to the Ben Cousins incidents or anything like it..

Forget about AK, if this injured kid doesn't make it, it will stuff Richmond's coming season royally... :(

By the look on Andy's face, he is a very worried boy.
I don't condone anything he's done, but his childhood and missing out on seeing his dad for about 10 years and now this makes me want to support him.
He's not a rotten kid from what I've seen and I hope the other kid gets better and Krak is let off easy
If it was anyone else except Krak, I'd probably say throw the book at him.  But i hope there's some sort of leniency if he is found guilty.

This really sucks, because another kid is fighting for his life.  Don't think it's wrong though to want to support Krak in some way and just hope the whole situation vanishes into thin air. Praying he did it (if he did) in self-defence.

Interesting Krak has a shiner.  So, he wasn't alone throwing punches.
Someone gave him a nice one, so maybe it was self-defence  :pray

Seems there's alot more to this but we'll have to wait for the court hearing to hear the full facts. Interesting that one of the rellies of the injured guy yelled out at Krak calling him his dad's name "Jimmy".

how can krak be in the top 20. this is his first indiscretion as an adult. he shows no mailice on the field or off. the guy he belted is stable and will be ok. he obv deserved what he got and i supprt AK all the way cos this is not his normal behavior.

i dont care what anyone says but belting up a bloke is no where near as bad a crime as running away from police in order to resist arrest. why else would cousins run, you only run when u have something to hide. maybe he wasnt drunk, but just maybe he had good reason to get arrested for other reasons. just my thoughts because if you have nothing to hide you stay put!

if krak was cousins embly kerr judd or cox, this would be all swept under the carpet

if AK was a pie player, it would also somehow fizzle to nothing

if AK was white, this would not even be a case in perth, bunch of bloody redneck bast ards

Really annoying to me this part of this article.  If Andrew or Tyrone should ever go before a jury of some kind, most of the jurors would be tarnished with this sort of garbage by reading it in the paper prior to the trial.  To me, any of this in a court case would be irrelevant and should be inadmissible.  Yet it's there for all to see, and for ppl to make uneducated judgements on the character of the boys. There would be that "like father like son" mentality.

I know everyone knows about Jimmy, but if it was some unknown facing court, this just wouldn't happen.  No matter who it is, things like this shouldn't be reported IMO.

The Krakouer brothers' father is former North Melbourne star Jimmy Krakouer, who is considered one of North Melbourne's greatest players, with a career spanning 14 years and almost 150 games.

But his career was clouded by off-field problems, including arrests and jail terms.

In 1985, at the height of his fame, he was charged with unlawful imprisonment, several counts of assault and 20 counts of sexual penetration of a girl under the age of 16.

He spent two weeks in Pentridge jail and was sentenced to two 50-hour community service orders.

In January 1994, after he finished playing, Jimmy Krakouer was arrested in Perth for trafficking drugs and sentenced to 16 years - a term he was still serving when Andrew began playing for Richmond in 2001.

It's not right Moi but I guess it's the price of fame or being the kid of someone famous. A non-serious comparison would be nearly every Andrew Raines article mentioning Geoff is some way. More a sign the journo has nothing new to say to fill their article.

In a magistrates court where you only have the judge (magistrate) you would hope his/her professionalism would not let Krak's dad's past enter into the verdict whatsoever. In a higher court though where you have a jury then you have to rely on people off the street not being overly influenced by what they have read in the media prior to jury duty. Either way a verdict should only be based on the evidence provided in court. So far based on media reports there's a bloke in hospital in a serious yet stable condition, no vision of the incident, no independent witnesses, the defendants claiming their innocence and the bloke's family baying for blood. In other words we in the public no nothing.

Can we promote Howat if it got to that? I thought you could only promote a rookie for a long-term injury.
