This article is from a couple of days ago but I haven't seen this reported in the Melbourne media.

Tempers boil in Krakouer case
Jo Prichard
Sunday Times
January 02, 2007 05:45am

THE grandmother of Justin Martin, the young man allegedly bashed by Richmond footballer Andrew Krakouer, has rejected any hope of reconciliation between the two families.

Matriarch Joan Martin said yesterday she was not interested in meeting the Krakouers, after the fallen football star and father of the accused, Jimmy Krakouer, tried to approach the Martin clan to make peace.

"Do we sit down and thank them ... is that what you're asking? ... Get real," Ms Martin said in Perth yesterday. "The reality is that I don't intend to reconcile with any of the Krakouers, except in the courts."

Mr Martin, a 24-year-old plasterer, is in a stable condition in Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital after spending a week in intensive care with serious head injuries sustained during an attack on him at the Harbourside nightclub in Fremantle.

AFL player Andrew Krakouer and his brother Tyrone have indicated they will plead not guilty to one count each of unlawful assault causing grievous bodily harm.

Their bail was renewed last week on the condition they not approach Mr Martin.

Retired police superintendent John Watson urged the families last week to get together and talk.

But Mr Martin's father, Greg, said yesterday that making peace was not a priority while his son was still in hospital.

"We've never been in a feud with Andrew Krakouer and his family ... we're trying not to even focus on that, our focus is on Justin's recovery," he said.

"We don't know yet what the fallout's going to be from his health - he was knocked unconscious, he had head injuries and some of his body functions had shut down."

The results of medical tests will determine whether charges against the Krakouer brothers will be downgraded, a move that has angered Ms Martin.

Family threats of tribal payback for those found responsible were toned down yesterday, as she said the main responsibility for justice was with the courts and police.

"I don't believe in exploiting Aboriginal culture or law, I have never done it in the past and I don't intend to do it now," Ms Martin said.

She and her son said young indigenous people needed to show more respect for traditional ways as recognition of customary law was evolving in Western Australia's judicial system.

Just pinching a snippett about Krak from the training report. He looked in fairly good spirits today.

Krak was there by the way and had a good session. No visible signs of any mental distraction that detracted from his training. Newy put his arm around him at one stage as they were coming back onto the ground after they had gone off to change from boots to runners but then again it was probably me noticing something that was nothing.

On another note in the Herald-Sun it says Dean Brogan is facing court in March for his assault charge from June last year. So another example of these things dragging out over a long period of time.

Good to hear the club come out and say they're right behind Krak via Miller in that interview.
And that's after hearing the circumstances surrounding the incident from Andrew.

Yeah - it's a positive

It's just a pity that it isn't done and dusted, over with, finished, finito etc. from a legal point of view :-\

Miller's comments today on Sport 927....

The Club has been through the issues that the club needs to say to him and we're now fully supporting him. As he's pleaded not guilty that's how we see it and are supporting him. We are fully aware of the circumstances by speaking to Andrew and being with him at the initial trial. It's not a Steve Johnson case at all. It's an isolated incident. Krak wished he wasn't there at the time but it happened and we'll be supporting him and let the court take its process.

The Club has done the right thing going by what Miller said. It's just frustrating that it'll take most of the year for the courts to sort this matter out.

Footy star linked to bandit

Sunday Herald Sun

AFL player Andrew Krakouer's sister has married notorious armed robber and would-be cop killer Brendan Berichon in a prison ceremony.

The groom, accomplice of "Postcard Bandit" Brendon Abbott, has put the Richmond forward on his prison visitor list.

Berichon, who helped Abbott escape from prison in 1997 and later shot and injured two Victorian policemen, wed Rhiannon Krakouer, 25, on December 2.

The bride's brother, who is facing serious assault charges in WA, did not attend the jailhouse ceremony.

The couple were married by a celebrant behind the bars of the medium security Marngoneet Correctional Centre, near Lara, west of Melbourne.

The short ceremony was not attended by any guests.

"The wedding was supposed to take place at 11am, but the bride was two hours late," a source said.

"It was a very, very small ceremony and took about 15 minutes."

Ms Krakouer did not even tell some of her closest friends about the nuptials.

Holidaying in Western Australia, she refused to comment when the Sunday Herald Sun contacted her through a friend.

Andrew Krakouer's manager, Peter Jess, said the football star did not want to make any comment on the wedding or his being placed on the criminal's visitor list.

It is understood Andrew Krakouer has not visited Berichon and does not plan to.

The revelations emerged three weeks after Krakouer and his brother Tyrone were charged with assault causing grievous bodily harm after a man received head injuries in an incident in Fremantle on December 22.

The Krakouers' father Jim, a North Melbourne star, was jailed in 1995 for trafficking amphetamines and served nine years of a 16-year term before his release in 2004.

It is not known how Rhiannon Krakouer met Berichon, who has been in jail since early 1998. He will be eligible for parole in April but Queensland Police say he will face new charges in that state when released.

 ::)

What's this got to do with Krak himself or his case apart from trying to portray the whole Krakouer family as a bunch of crims ::).

Really X - do you really want to lower yourself that much?  Any decent male should run in opposite direct that have anything to do with Miss Bungle, especially if he already has a wife/girlfriend.
