You wonder why they'd delay making the decision though?
“For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
Nor are your ways my ways,” says the Lord.

“For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are my ways higher than your ways,
And my thoughts than your thoughts."

I'm just guessing here al but maybe we have our eye out on a certain young tall defender and hope he is still around at pick 26 say or perhaps a mature tall defender from a state league and hoping he's still around at pick 55. If we miss out on either scenario then Goo stays as back-up and we move Newy to the vets list. In other words we may just be keeping our options open so we aren't forced into anything.

possible. you'd hope that gourdis would know where he stands if it is the case of something like that.

Yep you would hope so al. Has anyone seen Goo in the last week or two since the players have been back into full preseason training?

People asked the same thing on Bigfooty earlier and on about Tuesday and why there are no videos or photos with Goudis in them. Stig replied saying something like "can't get a picture of everyone" which seems like poo considering blokes like Graham and McCarthy are getting plenty of exposure. Then again we've seen pictures of Morris, Helbig, D-Mac, Contin etc but still yet to see anything of the big Ivan.

The Power, likely to retain a pick for the pre-season draft on December 13, has turned its attention to another ex-Magpie, midfielder John McCarthy.

But it is understood McCarthy - who will also bypass the national draft - has turned down an offer from Port and will play with Richmond in 2012.

"We haven't heard anything about that," Power operations manager Peter Rohde said of McCarthy, who has been training with the Tigers.

"We'll wait and talk to him and his management again this week but there won't be any decisions made until the week after the national draft at the earliest."

I am actually starting to warm towards McCarthy a bit actually, might be worth a shot, not much else around and could rookie some of the others.

Players get to their club of choice in the PSD. So if we want McCarthy and he wants to play for us then Port would be stupid to interfere. Why pick up a player who doesn't want to be at your club.

Because they are wankers thats why, MT no other reason
Me too WAT, I think he will help to add depth for a small fee and like miller could plug a hole, however unlike miller, he is only 22 so if he can produce performances that are more than just serviceable then he could earn a good position moving foward.
