If Steve Wright pulls victory from the jaws of defeat, where it was looking like Hawthorn had got in first, If Wright does this and gets this an annual match he is a dead set superstar CEO.

It'd be all down to $$$. Carlton knows they'll make more money with a Carlton-Richmond crowd than a Carlton-Hawthorn one. Further proof to Hawk fans they are a minnow ;D. You'd think we'll give a percentage of the gate plus coinage from collection tins around the 'G to the Children's Hospital appeal and then split the rest.

Easter is early next year (round 1) so you'd think we'll be the opening game of the season as well.

Btw does Catholic and Orthodox Easter coincide next year? Ramps you're our Greek Orthodox expert  ;).

i think it does this year but then we are all clear for the next few years where it will fall different weeks. Id suggest however that for this 1st up game, we all make an effort to support it.

Greek Easter is on April 27 next year so that would be Round 5.
That would be perfect to play Rich v Carl in rd 1 but another sticking point from an earlier thread was weren't we going to play the Dees in Round 1 next year to coincide with the fixture 100 years ago in our first ever game?
Not that I mind I would much rather play the Carlscum.
Hopefully our Board has taken into account Greek Easter and we will be playing on Sat April 26 next year if we are in Melb or have scheduled an interstate trip as was the case in 06 when we played Brisbane at the Gabba in round 4.

Whichever club out of Carlton or us Judd finally ends up at, all this means the 'G will be packed out for this Good Friday game.

From SEN and the tomorrow's Age:

Round 1
Richmond vs Carlton.

Most likely a twilight game on Easter Thursday but it could also be moved to Good Friday.

Should be an absolute fantastic atmosphere now with the Judd talk and the chances he might end up at either club.
It would be great to see Judd in a Richmond jumper getting 30 posessions of quality against Carlscum but if he ends up at the LCT (Liars Cheats Thieves) it would be great to see him knocked out early on the game. Preferably by Kreuzer if the Scum have given away pick 1 to attain his services. :lol

The Age has the game listed as Richmond-Carlton, not the other way around. It might not be at the 'G either due to cricket commitments  ???. The full fixture comes out this week.

Quote
With the AFL determined to launch the season with the now customary grand final rematch, Port Adelaide would host Geelong on Thursday night, with the Richmond-Carlton clash intended for Good Friday also mooted as a Thursday twilight game to be televised on Channel Ten immediately beforehand.

A first draft of the 2008 fixture released to the AFL's broadcasters this week revealed that the Good Friday scenario remained in jeopardy due to religious concerns and the fact that at least six clubs were fighting over the fixture despite Richmond and Carlton believing they were the AFL's first choice for the exclusive timeslot.

The MCG remains in doubt for the Easter round given its cricket commitments.

The AFL's decision to extend the 2008 home-and-away season, to be played over 24 weeks and including two mid-season breaks.

In an unusually early start, the pre-season competition will begin on Friday, February 15, which will create a 29-week official preparation for the 2008 finals series.

Round 1. MCG 80,000 people

Dan Jackson comes of the wing at the first bounce and accidentally bumps Judd into the great southern stand.
