the draw really does not matter, if we are good enough we will win most games, if we are not then we lose

we should not (like the pies)  rely on the draw to get us into finals, we dont want charity, we must earn it.

the interstate teams travel more than anyone, they dont complain about travelling.

the draw is the draw, until we become an elite top team we will never get looked after so we shoudl just put up and shut up and just play to win

the only f thing that peees me off is that we dont have a home ground

it was the g, but now we are in limbo

i just dont get it, ur home ground is ur home ground regardless how good or crap u r, thus we should be playing all our home games at the g

re how good everyone thinks wright and teh board are doing, they are as week as fairy floss

thats what im on about.

the draw is a joke lets be serious but we always get nothing from the AFL.

but the g is our ground and miller, march, wallace, the lot of em are a joke and i hope and pray this time next year all 3 are out of this football club. wallace i feel for the most but still he is as soft as the rest of em.

I man for march to sit back and allow richmond to play the dees at telstra dome shows a complete lack of respect for this footy club and should go and go now.

that is a disgrace and shows that our footy club is a rabble

why is it again u people like this march fella. What exactly has he done.

It looks to me like he is too busy with his own personal interests to stand up for us in getting a better deal.

this draw is crap and i guarantee you with a president with a bit of balls we may have got a better deal

Presidents dont determine the draw, each club has a chance to express their wish list, do you know what the RFC actually submitted....i doubt it.

whether that gets met or not is up to the AFL, if you have a bitch have it against the MCC and the deal they did with the Woods.

for gods sake at the end of the day we as a team have to be able to play at any arena in any condition, stop looking for scapegoats especially the board, more in particular March and moreso Wright if it wasnt these two we would be in bigger strife.

yes the draw is disappointing but for christsake get behind the club and support it instead of at every opportunity trying to get stuck into.

im sure there are supporters from other clubs just as disappointed with their lot, until such time we have all teams play each other twice there will be inequaties in the draw.

Gee after seeing that draw we really got shafted worse than last year
Power Eddie at Collingwood really knows his buisness they got it sweeter than us

its up to the coaches & playing group now to play there best footy

Playing Collingwood only once peeed me off & the way the draw is set out is stupidity from the AFL changing things every year

at least the supporters will be happy to know that we can go watch Geelong smash us back into the dark ages next year as we dont venture to Skilled Stadium in miserable weather we can stay dry & cry under the roof of the Telstra Dome  ;D just bring some extra hankies  :thumbsup

On the NAB cup season l like to see the Tigers & the Pies go all out to meet each other in the Night Grand Final where we can give them a real belting ?? will joffa be there bragging about a easy 100 pt win again l hope the tiger supporters dont let him forget that too easy  ;D

I find it amusing that some people have already made statements like " we can't win these (designated) games". What a load of rubbish. Of course we can win some of those games.

Steven Wright on the draw (RFC)

The inside word on the Tigers’ 2008 fixture
11:31 AM Fri 26 October, 2007
for richmondfc.com.au

“The three MCG home games against our traditional rivals in Carlton, Collingwood and Essendon will no doubt please our supporters”, said Steven Wright, Richmond CEO.

“Commercially, our draw is stronger than what it was in 2007 and we’re happy that our request to play Carlton in a special Centenary celebration match at the MCG on a Saturday afternoon, mid-season, was granted.  The ‘Dreamtime at the G’ Blockbuster, which was a key Club request, will also continue in ’08.

“While we were seeking nine home games at the MCG, we’ve been given eight – the same as this year, which is one more than we had for several seasons before that. All-up, we have 12 games at the ‘G’, our traditional home.

“From a football perspective, it seems a reasonable draw with no back-to-back interstate trips, unlike the last two seasons, and adequate breaks between matches.

“Our home game against Melbourne at Telstra Dome is clearly an anomaly particularly given our Centenary in AFL/VFL and Melbourne’s 150th birthday celebrations.  It is also disappointing to not have any Friday night games, but given our ladder position in ’07, this was not unexpected.”

Key elements of the fixture for Richmond are:

* Key RFC centenary home match v Carlton on Saturday 28 June 2008, MCG – Split Round 14

* Rivalry Round home game against Collingwood at the MCG – Round 3

* “Dreamtime at G” game against Essendon in Round 9 (away)

Since when is Thursday March 20th a public holiday as stated in the AFL draw?

Oh dear - I can't believe I'm actually going to say this .... but I actually agree with most of what X has said.  Apart from March.  Actually how much influence does the board of a club have on the AFL with regards to the draw?   My theory is stupid Andy D. is giving us the finger for those comments about tanking - which of course doesn't happen.  The funny thing about the Pies relying on the draw - still doesn't really get their anyway does it?  We still beat them  :lol  Shame they aren't coming up here though :'(

i agree gordon

and as i have said, the draw is not the issue. we should always accept the draw because we know it can never be fair and even,  because its not a true home and away season.  If it was a 30 rond season and everyone played each other home and away then it would always be a fair and equal draw for everyone

my beef isnt the draw, its the fact we dont have a 100% home ground.  we should be playing all our 11 home games at the g, full stop , period!

and we may just come out next yr and win the first 7 games str8, no one knows, next yr hasnt started yet. but what we so know is we dont have a home ground and that sux

My gripes with the draw are from an off-field perspective. Sure on-field the team should just accept what's given and concentrate on winning games as all grounds are oval shape and have 4 posts at either end but things like no friday night tv games, 11 Sunday games, playing "home" games at the Dome and having only 2 home games in the first 6 rounds when you're trying to sign up members early in the season affect the bottom line of the RFC.
