Steve Quartermaine must have got a promotion. He's got epaulets on his shirt.
It's 50 of one and half a dozen of the other - Don Scott

Richo said tonight he's two weeks away. Needs to get through the next 2 weeks of training and he'll play round 18.

He said we went into our shell after half-time. Rawlings encourages us to play on and play with natural flair but we simply stopped running. He also believed Crocker was playing North players out of position in the first half with Petrie and Harvey in the backline, Gibson in the midfield, and Rawlings in a forward pocket on Nahas. Richo expected Gibson to play on our current No.1 forward in Riewoldt. Once Gibson went onto Jack after half-time Jack was quietened down.

Quarters mentioned that Post reminded him of a young Richo which made Richo grin. Richo just said our supporters would be happy to see the young guys like Post and Vickery playing. The future isn't looking too bad.

Richo said he's just having scans tomorrow as a precaution to make sure the tendon he had the operation on is still 100%. He won't play this week obviously and they'll assess it from there.

Richo also supports a lottery system for the bottom 4 teams in the draft and no priority pick.

Summary:

* Joel - terrific clubman and family man. Learnt a lot from him playing in the backline with him. The one guy I could turn to in footy and in life.

* Maxwell - Disappointed in his comments. He should have showed some humility given they won by 93 points but he chose to rub our noses in it. Disappointing to accuse us of going out and go for the man. We didn't and as captain he wouldn't allow it. Not sure if he was trying to be controversial on gameday to grab attention. You wouldn't see Lloyd or Judd make those comments as captain.

* Captaincy - been a few kicks in the guts this year but in saying that it's accelerated his leadership abilities. Lloyd said something similar happened to him in his first year winning just 3 games.

* Culture - going to take time to change it to a winning one. Right people and things in place now to go forward into the future. Personally as captain he needed to stay strong. The team doesn't need a captain who doesn't perform on the field. Lloyd said you feel you need to be everything to everyone. Just stay true to yourself and be yourself.

* Cousins - Never experienced something like that getting a Cousins to the club. We felt we had made strides last year so we were excited. Momentum came to a grinding halt in round 1. Not a reflection on Ben. He's been a great addition.

* Round 1 - yeah it didn't get the season off to the way we wanted after coming into the seeason with great expectations but we played fairly well the following week against Geelong. So he doesn't believe it impacted on the rest of the season.

* Sugar, Cambo and Cuz he's learnt the most from. Feels he's developed himself more as a person. Never forget the sensation down your spine leading the boys on the MCG.

* New coach - Not sure. names such as Hardwick, Hinkley and Rawlings been thrown up.

* Rawlings vs Wallace - don't want to compare. Jade has handled the role well given the situation and pressures.

They then put up a graphic - failed early picks?
schulz - #12
gilmour - #21
tambling - #4
Meyer - #12
Polo - #20
JON - #8

Newy doesn't think all those on that list are lost.

Walls said it's also what you do to develop them.

* Development coaches? Newy feels we have the people and resources now. The off-field has improved.

* Sheedy? Newy hasn't see him around the club apart from a few functions.

* Browny, Richo's future? Waiting game. Great players to have around the club. Hopefully they get to stay around. Thought Browny had put his hand up and played some good footy.

* Needs going forward? Need someone up forward but whichever guys are around at that stage (our picks) we need to go with best available.

Walls:
Cuz - keep
Richo - they would burn the grandstand down if the new coach got rid of him.
Browny - career over.

Walls - When Blight took over the crows and got rid of much loved senior players they won two flags straight away. They already had the talent there. So a different scenario to Richmond which doesn't have the talent. Richmond won't win a flag in 5 years.

Newy said Browny's had problems with his groin all year but he's done his most to get back on the park.

* Steve Wright - he's done a terrific job. With the redevelopment. He was a big part of that.

* Fev - they brought up the chat after Fev kicked that goal and that Newy and Fev are best mates.

* Petts' dad - Found out midday. Kayne is doing it tough. Had a shocker of a year (with the kneecap). Newy knew Mike Pettifer personally as well.

A little bit more....

* Last two weeks? - Need to show some spirit. Pretty lifeless the last two weeks. Show the supporters we are developing as a group.

* Yep expecting a tough preseason from the new coach. Need it too.

I'm impressed with Newmans comments regarding Maxwell. He is right, a real captain would not have made those comments. Just makes you hate the Pies even more now doesn't it!  >:(

I don't think this would the case anymore.
And you may not think I care for you
