No to McGuire.
Seriously I've had enough of offcuts from other clubs.

Liam Pickering claims 5 clubs are chasing Jesse Smith. I wonder if Richmond is one of them?

3aw were taking calls guessing how the PSD would turn out. A caller had us taking Bradshaw  ??? and Shaw saw it as a possiblity. Beva said we would stick to Riewoldt, Post and Morton.

Anyway some posibilities?
1. Melb -  Ball
2. Rich - Thorp
3. Freo - McDonald
4. North -  ?
5. Syd - Bradshaw
6. Eagles - ?
7. Port - Patto?
8. Haw - Jesse Smith

Gloss not yet off these players
Jon Ralph From: Herald Sun November 06, 2009

THE best thing about trash and treasure sales is that there is something for everyone.

The past owner couldn't get it out of the door quick enough, but you can pick up a bargain and, with a lick of paint, it might be as good as new.

A raft of AFL rejects will be up for grabs in the national and pre-season drafts, and while most will be ignored, some will surely be snapped up.

And no matter your requirement, the player is there for you to draft.

Want an inside midfielder? Shunned North Melbourne onballer Daniel Harris is your man.

As a fall-back, former Melbourne midfielder Shane Valenti may just be the man to step into an experienced centre-square set-up and win some quality ball.

Former St Kilda defender Matt Maguire once had the potential to be the league's dominant centre half-back, which means surely one club will be prepared to draft him.

Carlton will consider throwing Maguire a lifeline, with coach Brett Ratten saying yesterday: "He'll come down and train with us. It will give us a chance just to see where his body is at and to have a look at him with our group.

"If he does everything right, he'll be a chance."

If the Blues don't want Maguire 99-game career, there are other defences across the league that could use bolstering.

As for taggers, there is a wealth of options. Robert Shirley was an A-grade tagger for years at Adelaide, while an attacking run-with tagger such as former Blue Jordan Bannister would be a reasonable long shot.

Ruckmen are perhaps a little thin on the ground, but there is Richmond's Adam Pattison.

As for forwards, the future does not look bright for Richmond's Nathan Brown or Melbourne's Russell Robertson.

Recruiters had speculated that Gold Coast's inclusion from 2011 may force clubs to punt on veterans, but neither seems to have garnered much interest.

Only way Ball can end up at PSD pick 1 is if no one picks him in the ND, I dont think that will happen ;)

With the names likely available we'd be better off doing what the Dees did last year and go for a kid to get ahead of the GC17 who have the first 5 rookie picks.

Tigers yet to commit to any player in PSD (Age)
« Reply #54 on: November 22, 2009, 02:48:24 AM »
Melbourne will take Joel Macdonald with its first pick in the pre-season draft, Richmond has pick two and is as yet uncommitted to any player, while Fremantle, with pick three, will select Adam McPhee from Essendon.

Richmond with first live pick in PSD after MacDonald signs with Dees (Age)
« Reply #56 on: November 24, 2009, 05:39:40 AM »
We now have the first live pick in the PSD.....

Joel Macdonald began training with the Demons yesterday and is set to be taken with Melbourne's first pick in the pre-season draft. MacDonald has agreed to a two-year deal with the club.

Shame most the players we'd have want to push through to our pick have all nominated for the draft, not sure they can withdraw

At least it will get most of the kids after a spot training with us first given we have the first live pick

Good question now after the draft.

Do we go with a recycled player like a Thorp or a kid who just missed out and get in early on the rookie draft?
